Chapter Fourteen

-Kallie-

We all sit around the small coffee table in the middle of the boy's hotel room thinking and doing random things. While all of them were in their electronics, I was looking out the window to the already-crowded streets of the Big Apple, even when it was only 8:30 in the morning.

"We need to do something awesome today." Michael insists, plopping down on the red sofa.

'Awesome' and 'New York City' pretty much mean the same thing to me, so it would be impossible to choose the absolute best thing to do today. Today is the very last great day on this trip that feels like I am on cloud nine all the time. But it only feels like we just stepped off the plane, and I am already going back to Vermont like nothing even happened. It's so hard to believe that I've spent a long weekend in one of the biggest top known cities in the United States.

"You know what I've always wanted to do?" Luke asks, snapping me out of my thoughts immediately. He crosses his long legs and thumps his empty Red Bull can against the outside of the couch. We all look over to him, waiting for him to continue.

"See a Broadway musical."

I resist the urge to drop my mouth open. Is this real life?

"Bro." Michael states. Good, I'm not the only one who thinks this is insane.

"Well, according to trusty double U double U double U dot Broadway dot c-o-m, there is a showing for The Lion King at-" Calum explains, looking at his Mac and putting a finger in the air. "-8pm sharp."

"Are you trying to sound like a college professor?" I tease him. He takes his finger, licks it, and wipes it on his eyebrow.

"Yes, Ms. Solace."

My eyebrows scrunch together, and I let out a little laugh. This Kiwi guy is weird.

"Wait you're serious?"

"How do I look?" Ashton says from behind me. I turn around so that I'm looking right at him, and laugh out loud before covering my mouth in surprise. He was wearing an enormous New York City hat with the Statue of Liberty on top and it was covering his whole face, not to mention a baby apron that looked like it was choking him, saying 'I love my mommy' on it.

Calum unexpectedly pops out from walking down another aisle and laughs even louder than me when he sees him. Ashton giggles like a little girl again, making us both laugh even harder.

"Oh my god, I... need a picture of this," Calum exclaims, and snorts. I lose my breath. He whips his phone out and takes the picture with Ash in mid-laugh and his thumbs up.

"Take that off...before someone reports us for laughing too hard," I say, my stomach sore from laughing so hard. Death glares were being shot our way, though we were just a bunch of teenagers having some fun.

We are now down the street in Macy's, the sixth shop down the road. This has been an amazing day so far, exploring this beautiful city, and it's only 2:00. Once we've walked a little ways down the shiny halls, Ashton decides to tease me again. I don't know what's gotten to him today.

We were all just walking around mindlessly, not expecting to buy very much. Michael and Calum went to the video games section, and I have no idea where Luke is, but Ashton is right in front of me, his combat boots clicking against the hard floor.  All of a sudden he scurries off before I could see where he went, and I couldn't find him anywhere. I darted to where he ran, and found him after a while - in the toddler boys section.
