Chapter 13: Someone New

Quick thing to clear things Up since I'm terrible at explaining, when I mentioned the rewrite, I only meant editing certain things, I need to go back and check through any words I missed or spelling mistakes, so the rewrite would only be changing Marie to Gracie and scrapping the plot of Marie as a love interest in favour of Gracie, not the entire story itself since a lot of people like it, this would just mean it would take Feather longer to find her wife and it would add more drama since Gracie was directly and knowingly involved with what the company was doing to the kids and give Feather a moral dilemma and have to learn to come to terms with who her wife really was and who she is now if everyone likes the idea of Gracie being Feather's wife over Marie, something I'm really liking changing, partly because in the beginning of this story we didn't have all the lore we have now and I didn't know what I know now, I do really like the idea of changing the love interest to Marie, I just wanted to know if others would also like the idea because it feels better than sticking to Marie.

I might possibly edit to do a perspective change as I have developed writing more comfortably in third person pov similar to how Warrior cats was written in third person but focusing on the character I am writing.

Also should I combine some of the chapters together? or are they fine the way they are? I've been going around the 1000 word mark to better guess when I should finish up a chapter.

Recap:

I walked over to to the chute I had been put down, looking around at the area, this didn't seem to be anywhere near where the train crashed, and I had no idea where I was, but I put the blanket into my bag, who knows, I might need it.

Looking around, I realised the door would need two batteries, one of which, I luckily found in the storage room next to the door, and the other, in the bottom of a shelf grabbing both, I placed them in and opened the door with the grab pack verification, opening the way down to the hall.

I had to find Poppy...

I walked through the small hallway, finding a Bubba Bubbaphant cut out with a button, pressing the button a  couple of times got me an introduction of the smiling critter and a fact about elephants always remembering, then a question about remembering something about whoever pressed the button, the fourth and last  one was disturbing, it only had the Smiling Critter screaming in what I could only assume was pain for a few minutes, I didn't stay to keep listening, I turned to the left, wandering through a hall lit up green, thankfully Marie hadn't woken up yet.

Suddenly, I heard a phone ringing, causing me to stop, looking around for the sound, there was a green hexagon to help power something, so I took the energy from it with the green hand and searched for the place needing the power, heading up a small flight of stairs I found the corresponding triangle and powered the door to open.

This room had the ringing phone, I took the phone which looked like a toy and completely detached from the wall, holding the phone, before a boy's voice came through.

"Hey... Hey, can you hear me?" I stood still for a moment, I debated staying quiet for a moment, before speaking.

"Hello?" I called down the phone, careful and wary of this being a trap.

"You look kinda lost, I don't want you to die, so I'm gonna help you!" The voice told me, I stood still, looking confused as I looked around the room for any sign this might be a trap, who was this kid?

"Check this out, look at the tube thing on the back wall, ready?" He told me, leaving me to look for what he was talking about, curious and wary, before a battery was sent down from a tube.

"You can use that battery to open the door!" Despite my own wariness, I took the battery the voice had given me and placed it into the hole to power the door, something about the voice felt off, I couldn't exactly figure out why.

But I shook of the feeling, moving forward through the door, into a dark area with a fire in the middle of the room, something seemed to have collapsed and started a fire, blocking one way, 

"Whoah, did you do that?" I heard from the voice, making me stop, and take a look at the wreckage, was this the train? It was hard to see.

"Technically no, I tried to stop it." I mumbled, looking away, as I searched for a way out, I still had to get Marie's injury tended to.

"I guess that's where Catnap found you..." The voice told me, causing me to stop, blinking a little.

"How did you know that?" I murmured, he hadn't been there, Catnap would have seen him.

"I know you're probably mad at Poppy for not letting you escape, but she needs you, we need you, you are our mission!" The voice continued as if I hadn't said anything, what was he on about? I agreed to stay, did he know Poppy?

"Together, we can save a lot of people, including you, playcare is straight ahead." This voice was unnerving, something didn't feel right, who was this and why didn't Poppy mention him.

"It's the home of Catnap, one of 'The Smiling Critter's', there used to be eight of them? I think?" Well that's less unsettling, used to be means I won't have to run from eight different toys trying to kill me, but what happened to the other seven?

I continued to walk through, walking the path, that had become more colourful with the usual red, blue and yellow, but there was broken debris everywhere.

"Now it's just him, PLaycare is his church, his hunting ground, whatever he wants it to be." I listened on to the voice as I walked across the train tracks to the other side, that wasn't reassuring, what did a toy need a church for? Who was he before?

"You better get moving quickly... We'll keep in touch, oh, and by the way, my name is Ollie, nice to meet you." Was the last thing the voice said before the line cut, leaving me alone again, well except Marie, who was still asleep thankfully, who knows when she last slept peacefully.

But now, it was time to carry one, I still hadn't found Poppy.
