SHIELD 1305 "William Wallace", Apr 2013
As she sat in the cockpit Alex' mind wandered. So much had changed since that day when the news of Bucky's death had made her lapse into coma. The war was over. "We won" Fury had told her, but didn't he know? War knows no winners, only survivors. And those that didn't make it. That was why, when she heard her plane was SHIELD 1305, she had nicknamed it the "William Wallace". Wallace had been a fighter for the freedom of her land and he had died for it. Also Alex was pretty sure he was an ancestor of hers, just like Mary Stuart, the famous Queen of Scotts. But what did it matter now? He was long gone as was Scotland's independence. No need to cry they were long gone when she was born.
When they landed she was the first to move out. Yes she was the team leader and the pilot. But she also was an Agent of SHIELD, a specialist in fighting, a World War II veteran and she could take control of bodies. Also she didn't trust anyone of her team enough to let them go first. Second were the two specialists Fury had given her. The one, Homrich, was a hand-to-hand combat genius with scores almost as good as the Black Widow. The other a pyro-freak. Whereever, whenever there was something involving fire he was the one to turn to. He could get you a fire to bright for the eyes under water. Oh well, that wasn't all that impressive. Just basic chemistry. Alex smiled at the memory of how her PE class had tried to put out the fire the magnesium had suddenly catched when they had been doing gymnastics with the uneven bars. The fire had gone on and on until she had taken a sandbag and emptied it on the magnesium fire. For a long time she hadn't understood were the fire had come from. It was not until few years later that she found out about her power to manipulate light and energy. In a whiplash Alexandra was back in the present. She had to concentrate. Soundless as a cat the dark haired woman moved through the deep forest. Then shots rang out. Alex saw the two specialists go down, no fatal wounds just rendering them incapable to follow someone. And that was the moment she saw him. He was behind the trees on what appeared to be a small clearing. Without a second thought Alex ran towards him. "Bucky" she called out. Slowly he turndd towards her. "Bucky is dead. I am the Winter Soldier."
