SHIELD Base, Virginia, May 2013
"What the fucking hell were you thinking?" Fury barked the moment the doir had closed behind Alex. The raven haired scoffed. "That I love him for more than seventy years" she answered matter-of-factly. "You were supposed to work with him so he'll get back to being Sergeant Barnes instead of the Winter Soldier. What you were doing was the most ridiculously indecent stupidity I have seen since Barton brought us Romanoff!" Fury exlaimed. Alexandra took a deep breath. It would do her no good to kill the director of SHIELD. "Director Fury, sir" her voice was dripping with sarcasm "these ridiculously indecent stupidity, as you put it, has helped more than anything else to accomplish the goal. It is a show of trust and of caring, both things the last seventy years completely lacked for Sergeant Barnes, and it also gives him a sense of belonging. When I started working with him he was a weapon. Nithing more but a thing to be wielded, to be used. When we arrived at SHIELD he didn't remember his own name. Since then no more than a week and a half have passed and he already remembers bits and pieces of his live during and before the war. I wouldn't be surprised if before long he could even tell us who put him through all this and I have a feeling we will not like the answer. If you'll excuse me now, I have a task to fulfill and a lover to get back to." With that, she stood up and left.
