I open my eyes to my old bedroom. I sit up and look around, waiting for something to happen, but nothing does. I slide to the end of my bed and put my hands over my face. What am I gonna do? How am I gonna get back to my mother? I don't wanna be blindsided by the Twins ever again, I wanna know what's coming and be ready for them.

I walk into the kitchen to see Roman cooking. I sit at the table and he turns around and smiles at me.

"Good morning." He says, flipping a pancake.

"Good morning." I whisper.

"How did you sleep?" He asks.

"I didn't sleep. But the bed is very soft." I say, clasping my hands together.

"You could always go back to sleep. We're not in a rush to do anything." He says turning the fire off.

I shake my head. "I'm really hungry. I'm just gonna go with you." I respond, my stomach growling.

He fixes our plates and we eat slowly, silently. The food is amazing. Maybe eating in a stress-free environment makes it more enjoyable.

"You're a great cook Roman." I say, eating like a pig.

He smiles, chewing his food. "Thank you, but it's only breakfast food. I think you're exaggerating because you haven't had a home cooked meal in months." He chided.

"I think you need to accept the compliment." I challenged, raising my eyebrows.

He laughs and wipes his mouth off. "Fair enough. So I was thinking that we should go back to work to see how everything is. The world may have changed in the time we have gone." He says.

I nod. "Hopefully we can get some answers." I say.

We walk through the doors of the library and I see my boss standing behind the counter. Her mouth drops and she motions for me to come around the corner and into her office.

"I will be right back." I say to Roman.

I follow her into her office and she paces, her arms folded.

"So how was your two month vacation? Did you go to Paris? Rome? Did you go swimming with the sharks?" She asks, clearly upset.

I frown. "I wasn't on vacation I... I had a lot of stuff that happened. I figured you knew what happened to me, with the ball and everything." I say, confused.

"What ball are you talking about? I give you one day off and you disappear off of the face of the earth! You were a great worker but for you to just come back in here as if everything is back to normal, that ain't happening. If you didn't already know, you're fired." She says, walking back to the desk.

I walk out, my mouth dragging on the ground. I really didn't think it would happen like that. Roman walks over to me, concerned.

"What happened?" He asks.

"I got fired." I say.

"Fired? What? She doesn't know what happened? I thought I'd be a giant revolution by now!" He says.

"She had no idea. She didn't even know about the ball. This just doesn't make any sense. Everyone in this town knew about the ball but now suddenly it's like no one knows anything." I say, walking out of the library.
