A World Without You

Chapter 4

By the time I was discharged from the hospital it was almost noon, I begged mom to let me stay home because there was basically to time left in school but she just yelled at me. She said that she wasted half her day at the hospital because of me and she didn't want me in her face anymore.

So right now I trying to get dressed for school, which is very hard considering how much pain I was in. I ended up just wearing black legging and huge sweater. I put on some concealer to hide the bruises and cuts on my face. I Also just did light eye make up to make myself look somewhat pretty, my hair was put into a messy bun. I looked into my mirror that was above my desk and sighed. no matter how much make up I put on I was never going to be pretty enough.

I looked in the mirror one last time before taking my bag and walking back to school.

Jakes POV

I looked for her all morning but she still hasn't come, I really hope she was okay.

I walked to the front of the school to look for her then third time this lunch and still didn't see her. I was about to go back inside when I saw someone limping towards the school. I rushed to the person as they were about to fall to the ground.

"Jake?" I heard a girls voice. i looked at the girl and saw Lucy.

"Lucy? Are you okay? Why did you walk here?" I was so worried so looed in so much pain.

"I'm fine, I just tripped" I could tell she was lying, I could see the pain in her eyes.

"No you didn't Lucy, you fell from the pain didn't you."

"Maybe, but I'm fine okay." She sounded annoyed but I was just worried about her.

"Okay whatever you say and also we should go inside the bell is going to ring soon."

"Oh right." She tried to get up but stared to fall again but I caught her and helped her up.

We walked into the school, I was holding her up because she was two weak to on her own. once we walked inside the school the bell rang and students rushed around. We continued down the hall as we made our way to class. I knew that we had the some class this period because we talked about our timetables the first day she was in the hospital.

We were almost to class when someone, well almost the whole school stopped us.

"Well look who it is." Evan, if I could I would beat him up right now for what he did to Lucy.

"What do you want Evan." I said through my teeth.

"Just seeing how My little Lucy is, She took quite a beating yesterday. I wonder who in the world would do such a thing." he said smirking, it sickened me. Why would he do this to her, what did she ever do to him.

"I am not yours Evan just leave me the fuck alone, please." I heard Lucy say, she sounded like she was going to break into tears right in front of everyone. I felt so bad for her.

"Hey look who decided to speak up for once, you feeling brave because you have Jake here beside you. Well don't think he's going to help a loser like you."

"Will you shut up Evan, haven't you put her through enough just leave her alone." I was so annoyed by him I just had enough of him torturing Lucy. I know I had just met her but I could tell that this wasn't the first time Evan did something like this to her.

"Watch your mouth Edwards. Don't Want to put your self on the wrong side of things do you?" He chuckled.

"Just leave alone Jake its fine." I heard Lucy say beside me.

"No its not Lucy he hurt you. Come on we need to go to class." after I said that I rushed us of to class I couldn't stand to be near Evan anymore. He has changed so much since we were friends. I'm so glad I stopped being friends with him.

The rest of the day went by fast and it was now the end of the day and I was trying to find Lucy. I Was walking around the whole school and I still couldn't fine her. I started to get worried she was still so weak and fragile.

I started to look outside and I couldn't find her. I went to the football field and saw a huge group of people yelling and screaming things. i walked over to see what saw going and when I got there I couldn't believe my eyes.

"If you think he cares about you your wrong Lucy he wont love you nobody will." One girl said

"Your not what anybody wants I don't even know why Jake was standing beside a piece of shit like you." Another girl said

I saw all these girl and guys surrounding Lucy, she looked terrified. I looked around the crowd and my eyes stopped on Evan. He was looking at Lucy with that stupid smirk of his. he walked up to Lucy and whispered something in her ear.

Whatever he said made Lucy look even more terrified then she already was. She looked at Evan fir a few seconds before runny away with tears streaming down her face. I didn't think twice before running after her.

I followed her all the way to the community park. When I got there she was sitting in front of the Pond crying and mumblings things to herself.  I slowly walked up to her and sat down beside her, I put my arm around her as she rested her head on my shoulder and cried. I didn't ask what was wrong because I know that wouldn't help the situation. I just comforted her so she felt like somebody was there for her and that somebody cared.
