Chapter 7 ~ Desperate Times, Desperate Measures

My life is hell,

My love is gone,

Chances I have,

Only one,

A Gift left behind,

Warped with mystery,

A challenge to face,

That will make history.

"James, did Rachel leave you this?"

"Yes she did, Victor what is it? Because it appears to be bl.."

Amy interrupted

"Why would she do this? Only a full dose of this trigger the change."

"Dear do you not think i know that? Judging by the amount inside this vile it can only complete half the change."

"Victor is that vampire blood?" I asked in fear of the answer.

"Yes it is James. Rachel left this behind for you. She knew you would accept the trials and knew that Seth would make the trials just as hard for you as they did for me. This amount of blood could possibly turn you crazy, but it could also give you some vampire characteristics that will aid you in the trials."

"And that's if i don't go crazy. Right, now I'm scared, and speaking of the trials we have to be there in 20 minutes, we'll never make it."

"Ahh you see WE will, YOU may not. If you ingest the blood and gain some of our characteristics you will make it, but if you don't we will have to carry you."

"I don't understand, how is the blood going to help me get there fa..."

In that moment i just saw Victor disappear and then heard a loud bang, moments later he was back holding a dead deer, It was male because it had antlers and it seemed to be adult due to it's size.

"Victor! What the Hell! where did you go and why are you carrying a deer?"

"Forget that James, we are running out of time. Do you want to save Rachel, Whatever theconsequences may be?"

".......Yes......Give me the vile"

I was handed the vile by Amy and i just stood there staring at this vile. When i finally gained the courage to uncork it a smell of pure addiction wafted into my nostrils, it passed through me, it seemed to want to consume me. In one swift motion I engulfed the blood, for a second my lips began to tingle and then my whole body felt as if it was alight. I don't quite remember what happened after that but when i was able to remember again i felt like i was ten foot tall only i was lying down (Which also made me feel completely illogical and just stupid). I felt as if my body was at war with itself and part of me was losing. When i looked down my t-shirt was ripped, i thought i had grew pecs (which would have made me extremely happy) but i hadn't, in fact i had been trying to rip it off when i was overheating, i only knew this because Victor filled me in.

I could smell something, it wasn't a horrid smell in fact i didn't know how it smelt actually, i just new it had the same factor of addiction that the vampire blood had.

"That was fast, and look you already want food. James that is what the deer is for. Go by it's neck and suck the blood, at least that way you will have some energy for the trials." Ian Thorn advised.

As I leant in towards the dead animal, the war within my body began again but I was resolute, I was going to ingest yet more blood. I drew closer and closer, i was now nuzzling the neck of the deer. I bit in. It felt like getting a really refreshing drink on a summer's day, it was satisfaction.

"James, come on, drink faster, the council does not take kindly on procrastination."said Victor

At this moment i felt the deer deflate and i felt stronger than ever.

"James, follow me, you don't know how to run with speed correctly yet so just follow me."

We exited the house and began running towards the pier, it was amazing how fast we were going, i was weightless. Whilst we were running i noticed i was catching up on Victor so every 3 seconds i would have to make a small direction change to slow me down. Another thing i noticed was we becoming extremely close to the Pier but we were still going up hil.

" James, Jump!" Victor shouted

I did so without hesitation not wondering why, i just jumped, and if i had not jumped i would hev fallen off a cliff into the water, but instead of falling i being propelled through the air by the new power behind my my legs, it was as if i was flying.

THUD!!

We hit the sidewalk on the pier and iI rolled to lessen the blow to my legs but the others just landed on their feet and carried on running which forced me to start running again aswell.

We arrived at the mouth of the cave and entered at a human walking pace, Victor said we were not to alert the two councils of my new abilities. Inside the cave, on the round,stoen table, Seth was sitting there.

He greeted us like old freinds which relly ticked me off but that didn't matter to me. Seth was in possesion of the same candle as before, he placed it in front of him on the table and pointed to it with his two index fingers and then separated them out in a horizontal line and to my surprise eight candles appeared in front of him, one for each of us(Excluding Seth himself).

We all picked up a candle and blew them out at the same time. They relit themselves and we were in a court waiting room. Rachel was sitting next to me.

"James!"

"Rachel!"

"Thank god you're here, I'm dying of boredom. I've missed you so much, I''m glad you accepted the trials."

Before i could answer her back we were called into the court room. Hand-In-Hand me and Rachel Split of into the "Offenders Post" room to which a room filled with Gold mosaic patterns and archways appeared, when i looked down i saw a room filled with all sorts of creatures too prevalent to describe.
