My buzzing phone is what pulled me from my sleep. I groaned slightly and rolled over, pulling my blankets with me. "Hello?" I asked tiredly into the receiver.

"Hello this is Maria from Garden View Hospital. I am looking for a miss MacKay." The nurse said sadly.

"This is her." I said, sitting up in my bed.

"I am calling to inform you that a miss Prososki and a mister Rodgers are with us. You are listed as their main family member in the area. Would you mind coming up and filling out some paperwork?" She asked as kindly as she could.

"Uh yeah, ill be there as soon as i can." I say into the receiver and end the call. I jumped from my bed, me feet twisting in the blanket and sending me off balance. My hands slammed on my carpeted floor but I didn't even notice the pain, I just stood up and ran into my closet. I pulled pair of ripped blue jeans on and a light red sweater. I ran my brush through my hair and pulled it up into a high pony tail. My phone was thrown into a bag, along with a book and my IPod.

I took the stairs two at a time as I flew through the house, noticing its very quiet and no one was around. I sent out a mass text as I picked up Tony's keys and ran out to his truck. I threw my bag in and jumped in after, turning the car on and speeding down the street towards the hospital.

The drive was a blur as I got inside as fast as I could. I ran up to the desk and told the man who I was and who I was there to see. The nurse that I talked to had me sit in the waiting room until they talked with security about letting me see Steve and Kelly. When security finally cleared me I ran down the hall and slid to a stop in front of Steve and Kelly's room.

Steve was asleep in the white hospital bed, peaceful looking. He had dark circles under his eyes indicating that he hadn't slept much over the last day and a half. He had cuts across his face and a wrapping around his hand and wrist. I softly placed my bag on the chair but left my phone on the bed next to Steve. As I sat down my phone lit up with a message from Nat.

Nat: On my way. I have Thor and Clint in tow. See you soon.

I smiled slightly. "Hey Steve. You've really got to stop giving me heart attacks like this. I hate getting calls that say you're in the hospital, it scares me. One of these times I might not get you back." I told him and took his hand. "You cant leave me." I looked around their room as I listened to the silence. They had a big window against the south wall and two plush chairs opposite their beds. Their beds were separated by a table with a phone, box of tissues, remote and water jug on it.

I glanced back down at Steve as a knock sounded on the door. "Come in." I said and turned around, glancing at an unconscious Kelly. The door opened and three Avengers came in quietly, filling up the tiny room.

"How are you doing?" Nat asked as she hugged me.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I'm alright I guess. I cant believe I didn't go with them, maybe if I did then they wouldn't be in this mess." I whispered and my voice shook.

Nat shook her head at me. "No. For all we know you would have ended up like them, maybe even worse." She told me and looked at Kelly. "Have the doctors come in yet?"

"Nope." I popped the 'p'. "I'm hoping-" I was cut off as the door opened.

"Hi. I'm doctor Jacobs. Are one of you Ms. Mackay?" a man with light blonde hair and dark green eyes walked in. He had a blue shirt on under his white lab coat and held a clip bored in his hand.

"I am." I walked up to him and shook his hand. "Is something wrong?" I asked, freaking out on the inside. Thor, Clint and Nat moved forward, wanting to hear what he has to say.
