My eyes trailed over the bright golden color of the palace directly in front of me. I looked down under the translucent bridge to see a mass amount of water that falls off a cliff near the Bifrost and disappears. Heimdall stood by the entrance to the Bifrost and watched us as we walked towards the city. "Its beautiful here." I told Thor and played with the two necklaces hanging over my shirt.
"Thank you, but wait until you see the palace." He smirked down to me as we continued our walk. Eventually we made it to the city and I was instantly transfixed with all the small shops and the children running around playing games.
A little girl with a bright yellow dress came running over to Thor and I. "Prince 'Thor!" The child squeaked with a smile on her face. "I picked these for her." She looked past Thor to me and held out a bunch of purple and red flowers for me to take.
I dropped Thor's hand and crouched down to the little girl. "Thank you. They are absolutely beautiful." I smiled and took the flowers from her outstretched hands.
"You're welcome Miss." She said politely.
"Caroline! What have I told you about talking to-" A woman started to scold the child but stopped once she saw Thor. "My apologies my prince. I hope my girl wasn't bothering you and your guest." She scooped the child up and balanced her on her hip.
"It was not a bother at all ma'am. They were just talking." Thor held out his hand and pulled me up.
"You have a very sweet girl there miss." I said and tightened the hold on my bag.
"Well thank you and I do hope you enjoy your stay." The woman said as Caroline waved good bye over her mothers shoulder.
"Let's keep going, shall we?" Thor offered and pulled gently on my hand. I nodded and followed beside him through the rest of the city, being stopped a few times by people welcoming Thor home. The huge golden gates loomed up to the sky above me and I had to tip my head back to see where they stopped, but that was short lived due to the doors opening.
"Welcome home Prince Thor." A guard on our left said, tilting his helmet to us.
"Good to be home." Thor responded and continued to pull me through the entryway.
"Wow." I whispered into the crisp air of the palace. The roof soars above my head, the huge columns taking up space. "This place is incredible." I turned and smiled at Thor as I walked around slightly faster than he.
"Thor!" A woman with light caramel hair and a light blue dress on exclaims as she quickly comes over to us. "Welcome home." She pulls him into a tight hug and rocks him slightly. "It is so good to have you home again. How long will you be staying?" She asks, not noticing me yet.
"About a week. We shall stay for the festival then I will take her back to see her family." Thor motions behind her to me.
"Hi. I'm-" I started.
"Oh gosh I know who you are. Thor won't stop talking about you when he comes to visit." She brags and hugs me gently.
"Mother." Thor complains and I almost choke on the air. 'Mother?' I mouth over her shoulder to him and he nodded back to me. I hugged the woman slightly tighter, understanding that this is important to Thor.
"I'm Frigga, darling, Thor's mother." she lets me go and pushed me over to Thor. I tripped but he caught me before I could fall.
"Thanks." I sighed and looked back to his mother.
"I do hope you two will join us for dinner." She smiled, her eyes bright with hope.
Thor glanced down at me, his blue eyes asking an unspoken question. "Yes." I said politely, "We will be there." She smiles then says good bye before leaving the entry way.
