The elevator was ascending rapidly amidst the faint roar of its machinery. Yes, it was ascending. This was also a logical course of action; after all, their goal was the surface area. As the name suggests, the surface area is the uppermost surface. When they finally reached it, they should be very close to completing the game.

It didn't take long for the elevator to arrive at its destination. However, due to their nervousness, both of them only perceived the elevator as moving very slowly. The uncertainty of what was to come next tormented them both.

Fortunately, they didn't have to wait much longer. Finally, the elevator reached its stop. As they stepped out, it vibrated briefly, then the doors opened automatically.

At that moment, the tension reached its peak. They felt their hearts pounding intensely. They didn't know what they would see, nor whether they could truly finish. The uncertainty about the future made them feel extremely uneasy.

Fortunately, this torturous feeling didn't last long. Soon, the elevator door in front of Brit and the others opened smoothly. Once it opened, their nervousness eased significantly in an instant.

What appeared before them was not some terrifying monster in a container, nor was it a hostile member of a mobile task force. Instead, it was an incomparably vast and luminous hall.

The two of them instinctively stepped out of the elevator and stood in the hall. Looking around, they saw that it was a large building. The ceiling was a circular dome supported by numerous pillars; it seemed to be made of glass. Through the transparent surface, they could see the blue sky outside; the sky was clear, clouds drifted lazily, and the sun shone brightly. Judging from this scene, the surface area was actually quite pleasant.

However, comfort was only an appearance; the real danger lay beneath the surface. Besides the glass dome, on the right side of the hall, there was a large open exit. Outside it, they could see the earth and sky, as well as distant mountains and rivers. It was evident that the base was constructed within a mountainous region.

On the left, there was a metal door; they didn't know where it led. Brit hesitated for a moment before heading toward the metal door first.

"Open the door... Brit," Kiwo said, her voice trembling. She was nearly at her limit...

Brit sighed helplessly and tried to press the button on the wall next to the metal door. But after waiting a few seconds, there was no response. It seemed this door wasn't meant for players to pass through, so they could only exit via the gate on the other side.

Abandoning the metal door, Brit turned to look at the distant exit opposite. The bright light from the dome affected his vision; he squinted slightly, only able to vaguely see some figures outside the opening.

"Let's go!" Brit finally spoke after a moment of silence.

No matter what lay outside the exit, since they had come this far, retreat was no longer an option. They had to keep going.

After Brit finished, he waited for Kiwo's response. But after a few seconds, he realized he hadn't heard anything, which slightly startled him. Then, a wave of uncontrollable sadness suddenly surged within his heart.

He turned his head toward where Kiwo had been and saw that she had already slumped to the ground at some point. She had lowered her head, appearing almost lifeless. Clearly, she couldn't hold on any longer.
