Oh Taylor, I've missed you, dear." Adam's mother held Taylor in a tight embrace, smiling.
"I missed you too." Taylor grinned pulling. "There's someone I'd like you to meet." She told her, looking down at her son who was behind her with Adam.
"Come here, baby." Taylor urged him to walk to her and he did. She picked him up and set him on her hip. "This is Richard." She said. Adam's mother, who already had tears in her eyes, put her hand in her chest as Richard smiled at her. "It's your grandma, Ricky."
"It's nice to meet you, Ricky." She extended her hand, smiling but Richard took her by surprise by wrapping his arms around her neck.
"I have a question." He said letting go of her. They looked at him curiously. "Since I call Grandma Andrea grandma, what do I call you because it's very confusing?" He told them making them laugh.
"We'll have to figure that out but in the meantime, how about we go eat some cookies that I made, huh?" The woman smiled at the little kid.
"Daddy told me you bake awesome cookies." He spoke, following her into the kitchen while she laughed.
When the night had fallen, Taylor and Adam were lying in bed in Adam's old bedroom while Richard was sleeping in the middle of them. He had fallen asleep when they were watching a movie. It had been an exhausting day for him. Not to mention how he didn't sleep at all in the six hour flight from LA to Scotland. He had an amazing time with his grandparents and Taylor couldn't be happier.
"My mom was super happy to see you again." Adam smiled at her.
"I'm glad. I was too worried." She sighed, leaning back against the bed. "He loves them." She noted, looking at her son. She leaned down to softly kiss his forehead, careful not to wake him.
"You know, I haven't felt this normal in a long. Like this is actually a normal day. No cameras, just our son having fun with his grandparents. It felt like we were..." He trailed, not sure if she wanted to hear it.
"A family." She smiled. They stared at each other for a few minutes, smiling. They were suddenly stuck in their own world, eyes on each other, blue on green as they realized how in love with each other they were. All those feelings they had were still there, running through their veins, making their hearts beat faster at the thought of each other. The product of their love, sleeping in the middle of them as the word 'family' dangled in the air. They were a family. "That's what we are. A family." She whispered.
"You know I love you, right?" He asked, getting up to go to the other side of the bed, where she was sitting and pulling her into his, kissing her cheek. "Because I love you, very much and I hope you know that." He murmured against her air, as her finger traced patterns on his arms, her head on his chest, listening to rhythmic sound of his heartbeat.
"I love you too. You have no idea how happy I am to have you back." She pulled away from him to kiss his soft lips.
The next day, Taylor was helping Adam's mom with lunch while he was playing soccer with Richard in the backyard. She was looking out the window at them, observing the smiles on their faces as Richard giggled. She was happy her little boy was having fun.
"You did an amazing job with him, dear." Adam's mom grinned, noticing her looking at them. "He's a great kid."
"Thank you. He's growing up too fast, though." She sighed. Adam's mom laughed, resting her hand on Taylor's shoulder.
"They always do, darling. Before you know it, you're sending him off to college or if he's anything like you and Adam, he'll get the music bug and grow up to be talented." The woman told her, smiling at her. "You just have to appreciate the moments while they're still here." Taylor listened to the wise words of the woman who raised the man she loved. She loved his mom, she was always sweet and kind, it reminded her of her own mom a bit. "Now you go to your family, I'll finish this."
"Are you sure? You don't have to, I can help you." The woman shook her head.
"Go on, dear. I know my son. He's wanted to be with you ever since I stole you away from him this morning." Taylor giggled, remembering the look on his face when his mom took her out for tea and some shopping in the morning. "Now get out of my kitchen." She joked, making Taylor burst out laughing on her way out. She walked outside and sat down on the bench next to Adam's dad. She smiled at her boyfriend, who was staring at her.
"Mommy, did you see that?" He yelled out when he kicked the ball.
"Good job, baby!" She told him making him smile at her. She stayed watching them for a little while. That was something that made her love Adam even more, watching him being a dad. She knew he would be amazing, but witnessing it was something else. She loved how his smile widened whenever he heard Richard's giggles. She knew he was the one she was going to spend the rest of her life with. There was no way he wasn't. She was so in love with him even after spending so much time apart, she figured that those feelings were forever. She knew he loved her, she could see it in his eyes. She could feel it when their bodies were tangled up with each other in the middle of the night, morphed into one as they cried each other's names. She could hear it in his voice. He was the one for her. She just knew. He loved her just as much she loved him.
Later in the afternoon, they left Richard alone with his parents to be alone. They took a walk in the cold October Scotland breeze hand in hand.
"Taylor?" Adam captured her attention after a few moments of silence. "Tell me if this is a crazy idea. I know we've only been back together for a few months but would it be terrible if I moved in? I spend most of my time in your house. The only difference is I would have my clothes there." She stopped walking and turned to look at him. "It's fine if you don't want to. I've just been thinking about it." She shook her head, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
"I'd love that." She pecked his lips quickly. "It was going to happen anyway so what's the point in waiting?" She giggled when he picked her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist.
"I love you." He laughed, pressing his lips to hers. In an empty street in Dumfries, Scotland something happened, you can't really describe it but they felt it. True love is hard to find and only few people do and two of those people were them. They are in love. True love.
