Christmas Break 1992

Jasmine's POV

We pretty much finished the potion by the time I left. I was a little disappointed not to see if it worked. But according to Harry, it worked perfectly. Other then Hermione using cat hair instead of human. Apparently she ended up with a cat face and tail. I wish I had seen that, it sounds hilarious. Madame Pomfrey fixed her, but she will have to remain in the hospital wing until she stops coughing up fur balls. Hermione is making the boys bring her her school work, which isn't a surprise.

Anyway, it was an uneventful journey on the train ride home. I spent it with Nevile. When I asked what his plans were. He was apprehensive about telling me. I promised I wouldn't tell a soul. He told me about his parents, about what had happened to them and why he is being raised by his grandmother. They'd be visiting his parents in Saint Mungo's over break. I assured him I wouldn't tell anyone. He was grateful, he didn't want anyone treating him differently. But he is proud of his parents for fighting against the Dark Lord.

Mum, meet me at the station. She took us both home. Where we spent the night. We decorated the tree, and dad came over for dinner. It was nice having dinner together like a family. Dad gave me my Christmas gift early. It was a book on werewolves called: Hairy Snout, Human Heart by an anonymous author. I got him a leather slytherin bracelet and new dragon hide gloves. He then took Lady as she couldn't come with mum and I on holiday. Which sucks. But mum promised we'd have fun where we're going.

Which ended up being; Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Finland. Which is amazing. How many people can say they spent Christmas in Santa Claus Village? Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland, is world-renowned as the "official" hometown of Santa Claus and a premier Arctic destination located on the Arctic Circle. Known for the year-round Santa Claus Village, Northern Lights, and midnight sun.

The Northern Lights were amazing. They were so beautiful. They shined every night and were different each night. I took multiple photos of them with my new camera from Hermione. I also took photos of the sled dogs and reindeer. I got to go for a slay ride and sled ride. They were a lot of fun.

Mum and I stayed in a small wooden cottage. Had hot chocolate every night. Made a snowman and igloo. Which was awesome as we went ice fishing in it. We went to an indoor Christmas themed park called; Santa Park. We went to the museum.

We went on snowmobile safari.  We drove through the magnificent snowy forests of Lapland. Explore the Arctic landscape on a guided tour. It was amazing. We also went to the Ranua Wildlife Park. Where we saw Polar Bears, wolverine, martens, owls, deer, foxes, beaver and many other Arctic animals. It is where we went on the reindeer ride and sled ride. It was by far the best part of the trip after the northern lights.

What else did we do? Oh the last weekend before we returned home for the New Year. We spent at a ski resort. Where we learnt to ski. It was a lot of fun. We went to a party News Eve. It was a blast and I even made some new friends. One being a nearly seventeen year old wizard from Bulgaria. He was on holiday with his family. He was planning on trying out for the Bugarian team as seeker once he turned seventeen. I wished him good luck and we swapped addresses. Promising to stay in contact. He is no doubt the only one I will stay in contact with as he is a wizard. But it was still fun to hang out with some new people.

Dad was there with Lady to greet mum and I when we got home. Lady was super excited to see me. Dad asked if I had fun and I assured him I did. He said he'd see me when I return to school. Before leaving. I gave Lady a new dog coat I had gotten in Finland. She loved it.

The rest of the Christmas Break was pretty quite. I got all my photos printed and made a scrap book of our time in Finland with mum's help. It was great spending some quality time with mum. No school work, no work, no drama and just us. It feels like forever since we last hanged out like that. I can't even remember the last time dad and I hanged out like this. I'll ask him if we can do it one weekend when I return to Hogwarts. I'd love to just spend time with him as my dad, and not my professor. Maybe we could even go to Hogsmeade. It'd be an amazing Birthday present, to spend an entire weekend with just my dad being my dad.

I owled my new friend in Bulgaria. He even invited me over for the summer. I told him I'd have to ask my parents, which he understands. We talked about our different schools. Honestly Durmstrang doesn't sound like the best school. I know Mr Malfoy planned on sending Draco there as his old friend is the head master there. But Draco wanted to come to Hogwarts with me and his mother let him decide. So he ended up at Hogwarts. Honestly learning about Durmstrang, made me want to learn more about other magic schools. My friend says if he makes the team, he'd get me a couple of tickets to his first game. Which I am excited for, I love watching quidditch and had never been to a professional game before.
