"I've always thought Carlisle's diet so incredibly strange," Toshiro dropped the body of the criminal he had just finished draining, "Though I admit it is admirable."
Kallias finished drinking from his own low level criminal, letting their body fall to the ground just as roughly, "I would never tell Jasper that I think it's unnatural, but I think he already knows."
"It weakens them. They would be much more powerful if they drank from humans."
"They cling to their false hope of humanity, but we don't have it."
Toshiro tilted his head, as if considering the hybrid's words, "Yet we experience complex emotions and are capable of more than just being beasts."
Kallias hummed in agreement, "We don't feel the way humans do. I wouldn't say we're the same as them when our perception of the world is so drastically different. Someone with mortality isn't capable of understanding what we experience."
"I suppose," Toshiro agreed, and leaned against the concrete wall of the dark alleyway, eyes sweeping over Kallias. "You are an incredibly interesting creature. Sora speaks of you often, as do the others."
"You've had no one before them?" Kallias eyed the diamond bracelet around one of the criminal's wrists. He might want it for himself.
"I've always been a nomad, so I've always been alone. Not that some don't travel together for convenience," Toshiro grinned, when in just a few seconds the bracelet was around Kallias' wrist as the hybrid secured it. "I am curious to meet your parents."
"You think you'll travel to Forks when Jasper and I go back?"
"I know I will. I do not think the pack would let you walk into danger without them. When will you return?"
"It's a bit difficult to tell when you're disrupting my gift," Kallias was frustrated that his intuition seemed to be weak over the past three days here, but his only reassurance was that his mother wouldn't be able to see their decisions.
"Unfortunately, I have never been able to control my gift even after hundreds of years. I'm afraid it is your proximity to me that affects you."
"Is there a range?"
"I have to be quite close to disrupt a gift, whether it be the vampire with the gift, or the vampire I shield. Though my gift often fails me," Toshiro's crimson eyes blinked in the moonlight, "Your mother will likely be able to have visions of the others, but will not be able to see you since you are with me. Your presence in any vision will be absent."
"Are you certain of this?"
"It is more an assumption, but for your mother to have sent you here, it is likely she has never seen you returning."
"You would be very dangerous if you were against us."
"I've never cared for conflict. The less noise I make, the less chance of the Volturi coming after me."
"The Volturi?" Kallias quirked his head curiously.
Toshiro made a noise of surprise, and the hybrid didn't know what had given the vampire such an incredulous expression, "It is alarming you have never heard of the Volturi. I assumed your parents would want you to take the care to avoid them."
"My parents hardly ever speak of vampires. My only contact with them other than my father was in battle. I had little time for conversation."
"Then it's best you know, so you can avoid them," Toshiro began walking, so Kallias moved into step beside him. "The Voluturi are an incredibly ancient and powerful coven. They primarily reside in Volterra, Italy, but have many of their members around the globe to maintain vampiric law."
