"Welcome to Starbucks. What can I get for you today?" I look up and see Calum. He looks as if he had been crying at one point and I could sense the sadness radiating off of him. I knew this was partially my fault. I twisted the bandana, I had tied around my wrist, nervously.
Once I typed in his order, I wrote his name on his cup without having to ask him for it. When his order was ready, I called his name and he looked at me in confusion as I handed him the tray with four cups, all with a note written on them by me.
I just smiled at him sadly and he walked out the door. When my shift was over, I decided to go for a walk around the neighborhood. I heard a noise and I flipped, wolfing out. I whipped around and saw it was just a twig I had stepped on. I couldn't change out of wolf, so I just trotted around on all fours.
Soon I neared the boys house, not even realizing I had been walking to it. I smelt someone behind me and felt a rope slip around my neck. I looked back and saw it was somebody from animal control. I panicked, not wanting to go back to the wretched place they call a pound, and started yipping, and barking. I heard a couple doors slam as people ran out to see what the commotion was.
"Sir!" And Australian accent called. I looked up to see Luke standing outside, the others behind him. "Sir, I believe you have found our dog!" He exclaims. I looked at the boys I care for deeply and saw that they all had worried expressions.
"How do you know this is your dog. She doesn't even have a collar!" He states as I struggle to get free and run towards the boys.
"Y/N! Come here girl!" Michael calls and the dude takes the rope off, allowing me to bound towards them. When I get close I nuzzle into them as they pet me and give me large, loving, hugs. "See."
"I'll let you off the hook this time, but if I see her out free again with no identification, you won't get her back as easily." The animal control man huffed, and stormed back into his van.
Ash lifted me up and carried me into the house, the others following behind. He set me down in the kitchen as Calum inspected me for scratches. His eyes widened at the sight of the navy blue bandana tied around my front leg. "Guys, the girl from Starbucks had a navy blue bandana around her wrist. She wrote our names on our cups without questioning and a message to each one of us signed Y/N." He gasped. I whimpered and backed away, not wanting them to make the connection.
"Y/N?" Luke asked, looking at me with his intense blue eyes. "You okay girl?" He crouches down to pet me and I shrink away.
"Somethings up." Mikey mumbled. "Y/N, do you wanna go on a walk?" He asked, a bright smile plastered on his face. I wagged my tail, knowing that I could at least go and get some stuff from my apartment or something. He slides on a collar with Batman's logo on it and clips a black leash onto it.
I start to pull him towards the door and he mouths something to the other boys as he opens the door for me. I stop pulling so he can keep up and he lets me lead him. I lead him towards my apartment and when we get there, he ties the leash to a pole and walks in.
I quickly change back to human and calmly walk into the building and over to the elevator. Michael was already in the elevator and his eyes nearly pop out of his head when he saw me. When we are at my floor, I walk down the hallway to my apartment and unlock the door.
Once inside, I quickly run around, grabbing clothes, snacks, and other essentials, stuffing them all into a backpack. When I was done, I walked out, locking my apartment behind me. I walked back to the elevator and rode it down. I ran outside and grabbed the leash, transforming.
My backpack was on me when I was human, so it wasn't on my back when I am a wolf. Michael walks back out of the building, looking defeated. I wag my tail and he walks over, untying the leash. We walk back home and he just shakes his head the way back. "I thought we were on to something." He muttered.
I nuzzled his hand and he smiled at me. "Somethings up girl. And I'm going to figure out what." He assured me. I lowered my tail slowly as we walked back. He meant me.
