Chapter 5: Spice Adds Character

“Uhh, I was just a couple of minutes late for class and that whiney, PMSing bitch sent me here.” I explained to the secretary.

“Chris, you’ve been in this office more than...”

She glanced at her cheap, square, black computer monitor and continued.

“... More than 60 times.”

“Really?!”

“It’s not something to be proud of.”

“60 times this year...that’s not bad.”

“Chris... I mean 60 times during the duration of two weeks!”

“Oh...”

“Chris, you even used to have your own chair in Mr.Coketto’s office.”

“Well what do you expect? He always made me sit on those hard ass plastic chairs, so I just bought him a new recliner.”

“With your name engraved on a piece of metal at the back of the chair?”

“I didn’t want anybody else sitting in it!”

“Please, you practically lived there!”

“Well, it’s not my fault! What was I in here for so much anyways?”

“Hmm, let’s see...”

She scrolled down on her computer screen.

“...Foul language in class, foul language in hallways, disrespect towards teachers and classmates, vandalism, violence, substance abuse on school property, disorderly conduct, dress code violations, bad attendance...should I continue?”

After that mouthful she had to catch her breath. She then sighed and pushed a button on her telecom which let her communicate with the principal.

“Mr. Guido? We have a student here who tends to be late quite often. Try talking some sense into this wise guy, will you?”

“Of course, send him in.”

This new dude had no idea what he was going to be in for. He sounded way too...peppy, too happy, too excited, too caring.

“Go in, you know the way.” She pointed to the door at the left.

I didn’t know why she was pointing, she was damn right I knew the way.

I examined the light brown door before entering. I creaked open the door and walked in slowly. In front of me, I saw an overweight man, no taller than me, sitting in my recliner, except, it was on the other side of the desk.

“Hey kiddo, I’m your new principal, Mr. Guido. May I ask who you are?” He said in a loud, obnoxious voice.

“You can ask, but that doesn’t mean I have to give you an answer.”

“Alright, fair enough. So, I heard you have a bad habit of being either late or absent from school.”

“Mhmm, I’m aware of that, thanks tips.” I said sarcastically.

“You seem like a very troubled, interesting character.”

“And why do you say that?” I raised an eyebrow.
