Chapter 8: Night Changes

Harry's POV

We pulled into the big city park, and I parked the car. I didn't get out, though, she looked at me with this confused look.

"Are we getting out?" She asked, almost jumping out of her seat.

"Patience, we have to watch the sun go down." She looked forward and smiled a little. The sunset was in perfect view for us. "The date starts as soon as it gets dark, okay?" I said, promising.

I slid my hand over and twined our fingers together, as we watched the colors light up the sky. In high school Taylor, Selena, and I would watch the sunset every Sunday night. I think we did it because it meant the end to a good weekend, and hello to another week of school. We honestly did everything together, until Justin came along. Then it was just Taylor and I, and things weren't the same.

Finally the sunset was over and it was dark enough to start my surprise. I got out, and she smiled as I opened her door and helped her out. I couldn't help but just admire her for a moment; Her hair was curly, and cascading down her back and over her shoulders. She was wearing a red dress, it wasn't glamorous, but more simple and casual, which was Selena. She was always confident, caring, and happy. Seeing her so sad this past month, has made me want to find Justin and murder him myself.

"What are you looking at?" She giggled, blushing as red as her dress. I smirked at her.

"You just look beautiful, that's all." I took her hand. "Now follow me." We walked to the beginning of the trail that led into the woods, and the trail lit up with colorful lights. Music started playing, she looked at me, then awed at the sight. We slowly started walking, and came to a bench that was decorated in photos of us back in elemantary school, there was so many pictures of us it wasn't even funny. In the middle of the collage, the words "It all began when someone pushed you to the ground, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm glad he did, Because I got to become your friend...." Then Zayn walked out from the trees and started singing, thank god he still had our backs.

"Going out tonight, she changed into something red. Her mother doesn't like that kind of dress, everything she knew she had, she's showing off..." She giggled at him, and as he sang we walked to another check point in the lights. This time it was middle school, we were in the theater club together so there was many pictures of us in weird outfits on stage. The words in the middle said "Middle school was fun, we grew together as kids and became closer than we ever were.." When we got to that check point, Liam walked out and sang his part.

"Traveling too fast, moon is breaking through her hair. She's heading for something that she won't forget, having no regrets is all that she really wants." As he sang, we walked a little further and came to a gazebo that was cover in lights. I smiled at them, Zayn and Liam I mean, they started doing back up vocals as I took her hands and turned her towards me. I Sang to her meaning every word I spoke.

Everything that you've ever dreamed of, Disappearing when you wake up. But there's nothing to be ashamed of, even when the night changes..." I stroked her cheek, as she smiled up at me. "It will never change, Me and You." She giggled, and I led her through the lights to the next check point. When we got to this one, Louis walked out and sang his part.

"Chasing it tonight, doubts are running round her head. He's waiting, hides behind a cigarette. Heart is beating loud, and she doesn't want it to stop." We were surrounded by trees, they formed a circle around us, and the trunks were lit up with lights. There were pictures hanging from the branches of us in high school. Pictures from choir concerts, and everything, every single picture we took was hanging there, as Louis sang, she looked around smiling. On the path, the words written in chalk said "High school was amazing with you by my side, I just wish I could've realized it sooner..." Since this check point had so many pictures, Niall came out and sang his part while she looked at everything.

"Moving too fast, moon is lighting up her skin. she's falling, and doesn't even know it yet. Having no regrets is all that she really wants." We started walking the trail, the boys following behind, singing, lights were spiraling up all the trees, and soon we started passing pictures leading to the last check point. As we walked I sang my part to her again, she looked at all the pictures. These pictures were from graduation, all the way until now. Pictures of the band, and of her and Taylor without me. Basically this part showing exactly how things can change in the blink of an eye, which is the moral of the whole song. She got choked up, when she saw the pictures of her with Justin, and then the Pictures of how she looked without him made her tears she was holding back, fall.

At the end of the trail there was a big sign covering the exit with words on it that said "Because then you met him, and he broke you... But I know for sure that you can be fixed, because I am going to do it myself. Then I'm going to show you what it's like to really love somebody." She looked at me and I kissed her head, wiping her tears. When I finished singing, the boys moved the sign, while singing the instrumental melody's of the song.

I grabbed her hand and pulled her close, then led her to the Last check point. It was in front of the lake, Taylor, the singing boys, our families, everybody who loved her as much, if not more, than I do, were standing there. Each of them holding a photo of her smiling. She started crying, Happy tears. I made her stand where she was, and walked in front of her, facing her. I started to sing to her, as everybody blended their voices in a beautiful harmony behind me.

"We're only getting older baby, and I've been thinking about you lately. Does it ever drive you crazy, just how fast the night changes? Everything that you've ever dreamed of, Disappearing when you wake up. But there's nothing to be ashamed of, even when the night changes... it will never change, baby, it will never change, baby, it will never change me and you." As I ended the song, everybody turned their pictures around. 

The frames had letters on the back that formed one simple question:

"Will you be my girlfriend?"
