Chapter 1: Meeting Kris

"NOTICE ME SENPAI GODDAMMIT."

"Senpai has not noticed."

"I WILL MAKE YOU NOTICE IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO."

Katie hastily grabbed the book Merci was reading and threw it out the open window.

"WHAT THE HELL MAN???"

"DID YOU NOTICE ME NOW SENPAI???"

Merci huffed, refusing to let Katie win this argument; the older girl looked at the window Katie had defenestrated her book out of and stomped over to look out. Their apartment was on the 2nd floor of the building, the book had landed on the fire escape right outside. Merci took this chance to hop out of the window, grab her manuscript, storm down the steps of the rusty ladder and down to the alleyway between their complex and the neighboring building.

That should get rid of the younger...

"HEY COME BACK HERE."

Completely ignoring Katie's outburst, Merci dug her nose into the page she left off from and walked on down to the park avoiding pedestrians and other obstacles that could break her concentration.

Back at the apartment, Katie was in a heated state of disbelief.

Did she JUST walk away from her? God, this girl sometimes...

Katie was determined to finish this argument as the victor and there was only one way to do that -- to track her senpai down. The younger girl took her small purse of personal discrete items and went off to hunt down her friend.

Mercedes was just entering the park, passing underneath the huge metal ark entrance and following the path to one of her favorite quiet places. Her head was in the words of the tale. She was like Belle from the Disney movie "Beauty and the Beast."

Katie rushes around looking for the older one. Based on knowing her friend, the younger betted 10 dollars that she would find Merci at the park which was one of the most treasured places Merci goes to. Turning in the direction of the park, Katie walks onwards.

Soon she reaches the park and just from looking down the sidewalk, she immediately spots the elder strolling leisurely down the way with her head stuck in that damn book. The younger growls quietly under her breathe and continues to chase after Merci.

"MERCEDES!!" Katie yells, her voice tinged with anger as she uses her friend's full name. The latter groans softly when she hears Katie's voice echo through the park. She doesn't turn around but instead keeps on walking. Katie scoffs incredulously. She realized that she was going to have to do something else to get the elder's attention.

Looking ahead, Katie spots a guy who was seemingly around her and Merci's age. He was fairly attractive in the younger's eyes, but based on a description Merci had given her of what she finds attractive in a guy, Katie concluded that Merci would find this guy extremely attractive.

He was strolling down the walkway, his hands shoved in his pockets as he gazed absentmindedly at the lake. He had messy ashy blonde hair that flopped across his forehead in an effortless way. His body was clad in a black hoodie along with khaki colored jeans. The look was finished off with white high top sneakers. His features seemed sharp and unique. The combination of the look in his eyes along with his indifferent expression resulted in a feeling of mysteriousness. He was fairly built, but not so much that he looked like a walking juicehead.

He was a beautiful galaxy of a man.

Katie laughed out loud at what she thought but quickly sobered up and then smirked as an idea popped into her head. Biting her bottom lip, the younger quietly raced her way over to Merci until she was directly behind her. When the guy that she had spotted got close enough to wear he and Merci could touch each other, Katie shoved her elder straight into the guy and then quickly threw her body to the side where she landed on a bush then fell next to it.
