Chapter 8: Competition

*KATIE*

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The alarm clock blared, echoing into the living room and waking the two on the couch. Katie jolted awake, and unraveled herself from her curled position in Jungkook's arms. Jungkook moaned and curled up even tighter. The two were in an awkward state of opposing reactions to the alarm clock's wake up call. Katie, still in her sleepy state of mind, didn't know her current position with the boy, and started pushing him away thinking he was her cozy thick blanket. Jungkook frowned and rolled deeper into the back cushions of the couch, still not being able to escape the wrath of an uncomfortable Katie. Katie fumbled around with a frown on her face and her brows furrowed.

She finally woke up enough to get up from the couch and walk back to a room to turn the damn thing off. Soon the beeping silenced and the house was left quiet except for the padding of Katie's feet heading back to the living room. She had gotten her glasses and adjusted them on her nose as she entered the open-spaced establishment.

Jungkook was sitting up and leaning himself on the arm of the couch and rubbing his head of bed hair. He wiped his eyes and yawned.

"Why do you have an alarm clock set for 6 in the morning?" He asked and afterwards yawned as the girl followed in a returned yawn.

"I totally forgot it was on. So-*yawn* -rry."

Jungkook frowns as he rubs his eyes with an adorable pout.

"Again. Why do you wake up at 6 in the morning?"

"Because it's usually the time where Merci and I begin to brainstorm for our stories," Katie answers, yawning at the end which she politely covers her mouth for. "But I forgot to shut it off because Merci STILL hasn't come back."

"I bet she's getting lucky."

Katie laughs at the thought, but secretly hopes that it's true.

"Mhmm!"

The two dark, midnight haired teens laugh at their antics in their sleepy tones. Both then yawned in sync and giggled at their coordination.

"How about some breakfast?" Katie asked, her tummy rumbling soon afterwards.

"Sure. Whatcha have?" Jungkook questions as he and Katie move towards the kitchen area. The boy seats himself in a chair at the dark oak wood dining table as Katie puts on a cute apron around her pajama shorts. She then turns on the lights to see if the power came back on, which it did.

"We have eggs and bacon. Or waffles. Also cereal and apple sauce. For drinks we have orange juice, chocolate or plain milk and apple juice."

"Can we have everything?" Jungkook looks up J-Hopefully with a bright smile. Katie smiles back and nods.

"Let us feast like great kings!"

They both laugh as Katie walks over to the overhanging pantries and opens them to get the according ingredients for waffles, eggs and bacon.

"Let me help you. Then you can try some of my famous bacon and sunny-side-up eggs!" Jungkook exclaims, getting up from his chair like an excited little kid showing his mom a new trick. Katie smiles and moves over from the oven as she places the skillets down. The girl then heads over to the fridge and gets out the eggs, milk, bacon, etcetera out and hands Jungkook's necessary ingredients to him.

The two furiously get to work as they decided to start a race as to who could finish their plates first. The winner gets to have an extra food of their choice and the loser has to make it for them.
