Angelique didn’t know when Jean-Paul had left. All she knew was that he had left her alone with Richard. She had promised herself that this would not happen, she stood up suddenly and made as if to leave the room, Oh God, he was coming towards her. He put one hand on the small of her back and the other behind her head, and then he brought his lips to hers. Richard was kissing her with a sense of urgency and desperation. Her lips parted under the pressure and his tongue darted inside her mouth. They both stopped at the same time and Richard’s eyes glowed.
“I have wanted to do that since you woke me up.”
He pulled her to him again and for a moment she melted into him but then she pulled away. She couldn’t do this, it was too complicated for her to handle.
“I am sorry”
She ran from the room and up the stairs, tears beginning to fall from her eyes. She was so foolish, here was a lovely young man, who was sweet and obviously as attracted to her as she was to him but she couldn’t risk it. Her life was too complex as it was, without the added strain of this. She lay down on her bed, her face buried in her pillow and saw his face in her mind. His hair a light brown colour, slightly wavy, with wisps that seemed to always be in his face, deep blue eyes that weren’t pale blue as Han’s were but rather were like pools of water that she wanted to dive into, and his smile… His smile was amazing; it actually made her heart stop beating. It seemed to be just a cheeky grin, but when she looked at him it was so much more. When he smiled his eyes lit up and his whole face glowed. She just wanted to run her fingers through his hair and feel his lips on hers again. She knew that she would never be able to get that perfect face out of her mind. She turned over and lay there looking at the ceiling, thinking about him. She was in love, she was sure of it. In love with Richard, a British pilot. What was she going to do now? Someone knocked at the door. She got out of bed and unlocked the door, Richard was standing there.
“I shouldn’t have kissed you it was much too forward of me.”
“No Richard, I wanted you to kiss me. I kissed you back.”
“Then why did you leave? Was it too fast for you? I am not sorry that I did do it though, I have wanted to do so for so long.”
“I am sorry but I had to leave. It was making things much too complicated. I just could not think clearly.”
Richard stepped in her room and shut the door.
“I should never have let you leave.”
“No Richard. Don’t! We shouldn’t!”
“Why not don’t you want to darling?”
“Of course I want to, it’s not fair for you to say that I don’t Richard. We just can’t it wouldn’t be right.”
“Angelique! Look at me. Tell me how this can be wrong. What wouldn’t be right is us both wanting it but not doing anything about it.”
“Giving into our passions even for just a short time would make things harder for me. Not to mention the fact that there is Hans to deal with and on top of that your British and not supposed to be here in the first place.”
Richard moved forward.
“We can’t let things like that get in the way. We should live in the moment.”
