The next day Angelique woke up before Richard and got out of bed and dressed quietly so as to not wake him up. She went downstairs and made them both some breakfast, then putting it on a tray she placed it on a table next to the stairs. She went into the lounge where everyone was sat around the fire relaxing.
“I have got something to tell you all.”
Then she felt an arm around her.
“Surely you weren’t going to tell them without me, darling.”
Angelique put her hand over Richard’s at her side.
“We are going to get married this afternoon. We want you all to be our witnesses.”
The room seemed overcome by a shocked silence, then everyone seemed to speak at once.
“It’s a bit soon isn’t?”
“Are you having it here?”
“Is it only going to be a small ceremony?”
“Yes if course anytime.”
Angelique and Richard smiled at them all.
“Michel will you please give me away?”
He nodded and then Richard turned to Jean-Paul.
“Jean! Will you be my best man?”
Jean-Paul took Richard’s hand and shook it firmly.
“It would be my honour. Thank you.”
Everyone crowded around them and Richard lifted Angelique up and spun her around. That was when Angelique noticed that Richard was still wearing his Pyjamas.
“Darling. You’re not dressed. Come on.”
She dragged him by the hand out of the door, paused to pick up the breakfast tray and continued up the stairs. Angelique set the tray on the dressing table and poured them both a cup of tea. Hands went over her eyes.
“How about a little practice. It will be our wedding night tonight and I want to make sure that it goes perfectly.”
He slipped his hands around her waist but she slapped them away.
“Naughty. I don’t think you need any practice. You were amazing a few weeks ago.”
Richard sat down in a chair and pulled her onto his knee.
“Yes, but that seems so long ago. What about a dress rehearsal then.”
She turned round and kissed him. A lingering, passionate kiss that teased and awakened Richard’s senses, then she pulled away. She kissed his nose patted his knee and stood up.
“Stubborn man. Wait until after our wedding. Things are always better if you have to wait for them.”
They both laughed and Richard got dressed, then they went downstairs.
When they got to the bottom of the stairs the men grabbed Richard.
