"Sensei! Train us!" Akara whined.
"Can't a kid get his rest? It's his birthday for kami's sake!" Naruto asked, amused that his team is so bored. They are almost reaching the border of Konoha and now they are currently resting before they continue on the rest of the journey.
"Please sensei! we're bored to death!"
"Then play with kiko." Naruto said, naming the fox what he had previously named it. "She's boring!" Katsu whined. Naruto eyed them before he raised both hands. "Help me up." Naruto said and when the two genins grasped his hand, he immediately shifted his centre of gravity and pulled the two unsuspecting genins to the ground. "Be alert of everything." Naruto lectured as he waited for the two genin to get up so they can all head to a clearing nearby. The rest followed discreetly but they think that Naruto knows that they are watching. Team Naruto was a pumped up and ready to rock.
Naruto reached into his pouch to look for something. An unmistakable jingle could be heard and Naruto pulled out something. Two bells. Konoha gasped, that's Kakashi's test!
"A little history about me, I took this test as a genin under the legendary copy ninja, Hatake Kakashi."
"Did you pass?" Hakura asked.
"No." Naruto answered simply, causing the team to gasp in horror.
"But-but you're the best of the best of the best!" Akara exclaimed.
"Don't get too proud of yourself. I may be good but I never showed it. Even if I did show it none of my teammates would understand the point of the exercise." Naruto said, his peripheral vision was seeing Sakura and Sasuke looking deflated and lost in their own guilt.
"So what are we suppose to be doing sensei?" Katsu asked, feeling pumped up. If his sensei did this test, so can he.
"Get the bells from me. If you don't, I punish you guys when we get back to Suna. I'll give you guys half an hour."
"But there is only two bells!" Hakura exclaimed. Naruto just looked at them and shrugged. "But, if you figure out the point of the exercise, I'll not give out the punishment. "
"And what would that punishment be?" They asked warily. Naruto just looked at them then at Gaara, who was chilling on the tree nearby with Temari and Kankuro. "D-ranked missions even if you guys get promoted to chunnin, what do you say Gaara?" Naruto asked his best friend, who knew all about Naruto's ways. He loves playing with people's minds and he knows exactly which buttons to push. "I'm sure the newer genins would be more than happy to have a few more helping hands." Gaara said with a smirk as he watched the genins face scrunch up in disdain.
"Don't worry sensei, we're not failing this." Hakura said, as they eyed each other to try size up their opponents. "Alright then, come at me with all you've got!" Naruto said. Hakura and Katsu abandoned their teammate in the clearing with Naruto. "I'm gonna get that bel- where the heck did you guys go?!" Akara shouted out and Naruto sighed. "Pay attention to your surroundings." Naruto barked, causing Akara to freeze and to jump away to hide once he regained his sense to comprehend what to do next. Naruto's eyes moved around slowly. Naruto deflected a few kunais and shurikens launched his way and dodged a blow to the head. Katsu was throwing his punches and kicks hoping that it would drive his sensei towards the trap he had set up. Naruto had seen the trap and he suddenly shifted causing Katsu to fall into his own trap. "Shit! Dammit!" Katsu cursed as he hung upside down from his leg by a rope. Naruto just walked away nonchalantly to wait for the other team members to strike. Hakura tried her genjutsu but Naruto was unaffected by it. Naruto launched kunais and shurikens at her in which she tried to deflect as many whilst trying to scramble away from the blond assassin. Where are you guys?! Hakura thought as she opened up a mental communication. I'm kind of stuck? Katsu thought to them mentally and Akara found him and released him from the rope. "I found a bell?" Akara said as they regrouped.
"No."
"What?" The two boys said in unison, turning towards their only female teammate.
"It can't be that easy. He is an elite. He wouldn't make this kind of silly mistakes." Hakura said.
"You're right Hakura, but even elites make mistakes. Even though that doesn't mean this test was gonna be easy." Naruto's voice rang out before Hakura screamed at Akara to chuck the bell which exploded, sending them flying. "Aren't you a bit harsh Naruto?" Temari asked the blond that was sitting on the tree with them.
"In the ninja world, they would've been dead by now." Naruto said before disappearing to play with his team.
"God, that hurts." Katsu grumbled as he pushed himself up and when he helped his teammates up, a thought stuck all of them as they saw their hands connected together. They grinned at each other, they're gonna win this. Naruto dodged a weak wind jutsu and the group surrounded him. He then realised why that wind jutsu was so weak, it was just a mere distraction. "Sensei. I think we figured out the answer to this test." Hakura said as she fanned out three kunais and the boys followed suite. "It's TEAMWORK!" They shouted in unison before they flung the kunais at Naruto and the shurikens multiplied after a few quick hand signs. "Not bad. You guys pass the test." Naruto said as he disappeared and the kunais clashed with each other but the team didn't care as they did a victory dance, letting their guard down. Suddenly an arm shot out from under each of them and grabbed their leg before pulling them into the ground and three Naruto appeared from the ground. They slapped each other's palms before two dispelled. "But I never said the test was over. NEVER ever let your guard down. Do you hear me?" Naruto asked.
"Yes sensei. But more to the point! No D-ranked missions!" Katsu exclaimed.
"Now, since we're in this position, let's do another test. You guys are now vulnerable to your enemies and you can save one person or yourself if you give out information about your village. What would you do?" Naruto asked as he sat himself in front of his team that is currently stuck to the ground, literally. "Giving out information might save us but it would definitely destroy the village." Hakura started before she stopped to let her teammates continue. "Giving out information would also meant death for us and the village's destruction." Katsu said.
"So what's your final decision?"
"We are NOT going to betray the village!" The genins said, determination flaring from them.
"But that would mean your deaths." Naruto said, seeing if they would sway from their decision.
"At least we would have died an honourable death. I don't wanna be saved from information given out. I can't deal with that, I feel judged." Hakura said, shivering involuntarily from the thought. Naruto smiled. At least they learnt somethings. Naruto thought as he remembered how Sasuke was being pulled into the ground and Sakura had screamed and fainted, thinking Sasuke was a head without a body. "So how are you guys gonna save yourselves now?" Naruto asked, amused. His genins looked at each other before sighing in defeat, knowing they have no escape plans made. "If only we had someone to help us-" Hakura said but was interrupted by Naruto saying they do not need anyone to help them out.
"If you guys can't get out by the end of your test which is in 15 minutes, I'll just leave you guys here." Naruto said casually. "Although, I am impressed you guys got the meaning of this test in less than 10 minutes." This praise made his genin grin in delight.
