Chapter 23

Maddie's pov

I called Somer's phone, something was wrong here. First of all, Somer has no idea what S.O.S means, she refuses to understand, and second, she isn't talking to anyone at the moment, she's in her cocoon of confusion and sadness basically. I dialed her number.

"Hello?" I said into the phone, putting it on speaker so Ethan could hear. "Guys.. you need to come to the hospital" Someone sobbed on the other line. It's Grayson. "What's going on? Where's Somer? Why do you have her phone?" I asked as my mind began to buzz. "Look, get to the hospital so I can explain!" Grayson said in a nervous tone. Ethan nodded at me and we got into his car, where we made our way to the hospital.

Grayson's pov

I rushed outside of McDonalds, leaving Brooke with a confused expression, but I didn't care. I ran straight into the street, grabbing Somer. I carried her over to my car where I placed her carefully into the back seat. I wrapped some of the bandage I had over her deep bleeding wounds, I can't believe I let this happen. It's all my fault. I drove to the nearest hospital as fast as I could, possibly over speed limits... 

As soon as I reached the emergency room, I carried her quickly inside, where I was practically mauled by paramedics, so they could get her on a stretcher and taken care of.  I immediately call Maddie to tell her to hurry over, where she arrives minutes later.

"Grayson? How is she? Is she okay?" Maddie rushed over to me. "I'm not sure, they haven't given me any feedback." I said, trying not to let tears fall as I ponder on how this will all turn out. Maddie has tears developing in her eyes, and she wipes them away under the rim of her glasses. Ethan holds her close, I wish I could do the same to Somer right now.

 We sat in silence for about 10 minutes before the doctor finally called us into her room. "How is she?" I asked as soon as I sat down by Somer. "Well, she is gonna be okay. She is on meds so she will wake up in a few hours or so. Although... she is going to have some serious amnesia. You see, when she was hit, she fell on her head, and a certain area in her brain was damaged, she will need support getting her memory back, as long as she continues taking her pills and you guys guide her, she will be good as new in no time" the doctor reassured. We nodded as he left the room. I didn't want good as new. I wanted Somer. I lay my head on her stomach and drifted off.

Someone was tapping my shoulder. I opened my eyes slowly, it was still dark. I looked around and Maddie and Ethan were asleep. I looked to Somer, and she was staring at me in confusion. I stared back with a shocked expression.

"Hey... um.. where are we? And... who are you?" she asked, tilting her head a bit. "G-grayson" I stuttered, still in complete awe. "Ok Grayson... one question... who exactly.. am I?" she hesitated. 

Holy shit.

She really did  lose her memory.

*The next day*

Somer was finally being released today. Her parents agreed for us to help her back to normal, considering we all know her better than anyone. We also decided that we would all be staying at Maddie's place, there is enough room, and we wanted to stay together. We got Somer settled in, taught her her's and our names, and decided to let her rest. I sat on the couch with her, and played her favorite show, trying to trigger some sort of memory jogger. She sat next to me, but she seemed so far away. I want her to cuddle into me like she does. I want her to tug and play with my hair, to fiddle with my hands, to nuzzle her head into my chest. I want her back. 

"Are you alright Grayson?" she asked me. Should I tell her the truth? No... the doctor told us not to do that, it'd be too overwhelming for her. "Yeah, I'm fine. How are you doing?" I asked, trying to change the subject. "Yeah, I feel fine, the medication causes pain to fade, and I like you guys" she smiled. "good... you hungry?" I asked. She nodded. "Ok, come with me, we can go get food" I said, holding my hand out to her. She hesitated, but gladly accepted it. I drove to McDonalds and sat her down while I ordered her  and my usual order. I brought the food back to her and sat down with her. She began to eat her food and I watched as her expression changes as she ate, something she has always done, and another thing I love about her. I fed her french fries, and I felt as if things were as they should be. 

Too bad they weren't.

Somer's pov

Wow, I have a really awesome life, I have my best friends and everything, and I've gotta say, Maddie and Ethan are the cutest, and Grayson is so sweet and... hot af.. but thats not the point. He cares so much, I bet he was my bestest friend. I wonder if he has a girlfriend..

Snap out of it Somer! Look at this guy, he has to have a girlfriend, he's a catch! He could get whoever he wanted!

When we got back to our house, I went into Maddie's room to talk with her, she can be really good to rant to or to get something off of your chest. (rlly I am, hmu hahaha) 

"Hey Maddie, can we talk?" I asked. She looked up at me and smiled. I sat next to her. She eyed Ethan. "Ethan? Someone wants you over in your room" Maddie said to him. He gave her a confused look. "Who?" he asked. "Me, I want you in your room" she smiled cheekily. "Right" he  said in realization, kissing her nose before leaving. 

"All right then, whatcha wanna discuss?" she asked, turning to me. "Is it bad, you know, to catch feelings for someone in less than 24 hours?" I asked as I fumbled with my thumbs. "Not really, why? Think you have an attraction to anyone?" she smirked at me. "Yeah.. Grayson.. but I bet he has a girlfriend anyways.." I said, tugging at the ends of my hair. "You're right, he does have a girlfriend, I think her name was Brooke" she said sadly, looking at me with sorrow.
