Chapter 9- Can't Lose You...

Hello again, PokèFans!

This chapter may seem a bit short, or just poorly written, but I have to stick to the promise I made of 1 chapter a week!

I've been so busy with band, honors club (cuz I have high grades), and appointments to get my eyes checked.

Apparently the astigmatism in my right eye is gone, but it's still lingering in my left eye, so I'm getting a contact lens for it.

Well, enough about me, let's get to the story!

[Riley's POV]

Rain falls vigorously from the heavens, showering Starla and I.

Ree found a large leaf and is covering himself and Silver as if it was an umbrella.

"Are you guys sure you don't want to come under with us?" He asks. "You'll catch colds walking around in the rain like that!"

"Nah, I'm okay" I tell him, pointing to Starla. "But she might need it."

The brown haired girl has her arms hugged around her chest, shivering as if she had seen a ghost.

"D-d-don't worry ab-bout m-me! I-I'll b-b-be f-fine!" She reassures with chattering teeth.

Sighing, I pull the umbrella from her backpack and hand it to her, causing her eyes to widen.

"Oh... I forgot about this..." she wonders, taking the umbrella.

I take my coat off and put it around her, leaving me with just a black tank top and my jeans.

About 10 minutes later, the rain clears up and we arrive back in Jubilife City.

"H-hey! Give those back!" An all-too-familiar voice calls out.

I turn and see Dawn and Professor Rowan being mugged by two guys in goofy blue and silver outfits.

Great. More weirdos.

[Professor Rowan's POV]

Dawn struggles to keep a grip on my documents, pulling and tugging them from the blue haired man and his partner.

"Dawn, I don't think you sho-"

All of a sudden, the man is slugged in the face by a darker blue haired boy in a black tank top.

Riley...

The man stumbles, releasing the papers and knocking Dawn to the ground.

She lands and gives a grunt from the impact. She had fallen pretty hard.

"T-twerp! What was that all about?!" The man barks at Riley, infuriated.

"What, you thought I was just gonna stand by and let you steal from innocent bystanders?!" The boy shouts back.

Ree and an unfamiliar brown haired girl run up behind Riley, the girl carrying a shiny Eevee in her arms.

Then, unexpectedly, the second man punches Riley twice as hard, sending him face-first into the ground.

All of our eyes get wide, even the man's friend. "Riley!" Dawn, Ree, the brown haired girl and I all call at the same time, shocked.

"What did you do that for, man?! You're gonna get us locked up for child abuse!" The man shouts.

"We need to get the job done! Now, listen to me and let's finish this with our Pokèmon!" He hollers back, sending out a small, purple Pokèmon with two long stubs sticking from the bottom of its torso.
