Chapter 4

A leader knows how to take a risk

The sun was already setting and here we are trapped. Fighting more or less 300 rogues. I only have James and my 5 strongest warriors. I mean we can handle them but everytime we kill one rogue two pops out of nowhere and we are already tired. Well, they are. "We should call for help" James mindlinked me. I can't. I won't. I don't need help. We're perfectly handling this. When I was about to answer him, a loud growl interrupted me. Which fueled my anger. No one dares to interrupt me. I turned around and found my Mate. I could literally see his body shaking. He's livid. And he is with his warriors. Out of thousands of wolves why him? Gosh. I notice his eyes pitch black with pure anger. Even when he is angry, he's so damn hot. Oh my gosh! What the hell Cataleya!

I growled and went to kill. I killed everything in sight. I showed no mercy. No one dares to harm anyone when I'm around. It'll be world war III. Someone howled in pain, I looked around to see who it was, it was one of my warriors. I see red. "James, you and the others go back" I said to him with my Alpha tone so he couldn't reject. He looked at me annoyed but nodded and they went off. Leaving me, Zach and his packmates alone. In a second we killed every rouge. Pile of dead rouges everywhere. Blood everywhere. Blood. The more I taste it the more I want to kill. I can't. I need to control myself. I nodded towards Zach and told him to go back to his pack. Then I went back to my pack. I need James and Jake to keep me in control. They are the only one who knows about this.

As I was walking straight towards my house I catch a scent. It doesn't belong here. And I know it's not alone. I followed the scent. My eyes widen as I saw a group of rogues. Looks like they are having a meeting. I think there are 100 rogues. To think they can kill us? Stupid. I growled to catch their attentiont. Well excuse me, I'm an alpha, no one dares to kill my pack. They all turned their head towards me. I walked towards them. They are alert. They know who I am. They charged at me one by one. And I killed them one by one. But I didn't notice a rogue charging at my back. I was to concentrated in killing and wanting more blood the rogue bit my leg so hard. I growled and killed him. My left leg is injured so much. They all stepped forward. I can't let them sacre my pack. I'll sacrifice. Even if it means my life. I stood up, limping. Then I growled loudly they step back. I cahrged towards them ignoring the pain. I was almost done killing everyone of them when a rogues hopped on my back and bite my back. I howled in pain. I can't let them enter our pack. I can't sacrifice their lives even though I know they can handle them. I got up with the strength I have. My fur is coated with blood. I don't care. I killed them right away.

It feels like hours there are only four left. I now have a injured leg, back and a few injuries. It'll take time to heal. But me being the most powerful and stronger Alpha, it'll heal in less than a week. The four rogues attacked me at once and they knocked me off. I lay at the ground, almost lifeless. As I closed my eyes, I saw my mate. He is livid. Again. A look of hurt and fear flashed through his face. But I didn't see or hear what happened next as I let darkness consume me.

Zach's POV

I was working in my study when one of my patrolers mind linked me "Alpha, we found 300 rogues on the border line of our pack and the Ecplise pack. It seems like a bloodshed. And one more thing. Alpha Cataleya is there with Beta James and some of their warriors. They are outnumbered". I growled. No one touches my mate! I see red when I thought of someone laying a finger on her. Even though she's cold and has her walls built up high, she's still my mate. "Jonathan, call our warriors. As many as you can. Come with me too. We have a fight and your Luna is there" I informed him. "Yes Alpha, No one will harm our Luna" he growled. My pack loves my mate. Even though we were pack enemies. I don't even know what cause our hatred. But all I know this started decades ago.

I stood up and went to the forest my packmates following behind. A few steps more I already smell blood. I hear a lot of growls. As I saw what's happening. I saw red. I was beyond livid. Rogues are attacking my mate. U growled so loud it echoed and the fighting stopped. My mate looked at me but I can't concentrate. I let my wolf in control as I watch him kill every single one of them. I was watching for Cataleya too. She seem to handle it easily. The sound of a wolf howling in pain stopped me. I searched for my mate and see her perfectly fine but one of her warriors is injured. I noticed her beta and her packmates leave. A few more minutes we killed them. Dead rogues are scattered. I wonder why there were a lot of them. My mate looked at me and nodded. "She wanted to be alone" Shawn told me. I let her leave. And I left too.

It's been half an hour since the fight and we cleaned the dead wolves. "James let's go visit the Eclipse pack. And tell the warriors to go back and inform the patrolers to be alert. There might be rogues lingering everywhere" I mind linked him. I changed into my human form and took some clothes in a bag that my warriors brought. As we all shifted we went on our journey. I don't know where to go. I don't know where her pack house is considering their territory is big. And no doubt there are more than one oack house here. So I went straight to her house. I was near her house when I hear growls. Another fight? I followed it the sound. And what I see made me more than livid. It makes me want to kill everything I see. I saw my mate. Laying on the ground. Her black fur is coated with blood. And for the first time I see her defeated. But I watched in awe that she could do this all alone seeing there are maybe more or less 100 rogues laying on the ground. But fear took in as I watch her beautiful eyes start to close. "James help her!" U shouted through the mind link. And when the rogues were about to kill her I shifted into my wolf and killed them in an instant. They could defeat the strongest and powerful Alpha, but with the two of them together, they could kill you in less than a second. I didn't shift yet. I found my mate laying there almost lifeless. I shifted. I almost cried when I thought I might lose her. I quickly wore shorts and carry her towards the pack house at the center. "ECLIPSE PACK, I NEED A DOCTOR!" I shouted. And with that. James, her beta saw her. He quickly ran to me. As he got near. I could see tears in his eyes. All I know the Beta, Gamma and Alpha here are super close. Cataleya is their only family left. I let him take her. James took off running towards the pack hospital. And I quickly followed. We enetered the pack hospital and the nurse and doctor quickly came to help. I let them with their work. I paced and ran a hand through my hair. I can't stop thinking about her. Jake, her Gamma, came barging in. Tears in his eyes too. "Where is she?" He whispered. I didn't answer. "Where is she?!" He shouted. I got angry. I didn't like disrespect. But seeing that my mate is there fighting for her life I calmed down. "Jake, stop it. The doctor is stiching up her wounds. But she is fighting between death and life. She lost too much blood. And her left leg is injure and her back was biten so deep. Let's just hope and pray to God that she'll be okay. If not, Help me" James announced coming back and he seated. My eyes widen. She, she. I've got no words for that. The condition she's in is dangerous for wolves. I stare at James and Jake. They both have tears in their eyes. No doubt me too. I can't let her leave me. I don't know what whill happen to me if she will die. No, she will live. No one can take her away from me. No one. I was so tired of what happened and because of thinking I fell asleep.

I woke up two hours later. James is drinking coffee, while Jake and Jonathan is asleep. "Any news?" I asked James. He looked at me and said "No". I feel like someone is stabbing my heart. The pain is unbearable. I ran my hand through my hair in frustration. This waiting game is killing me slowly. It's been only hours and I'm already acting like this. I was too caught up in thinking of everything I didn't notice a doctor came in. I stood up straight and wait for the news.

"Alpha Zachary, Beta James." He nodded while greeting. "Alpha Cataleya...."
