🌷What inspired you to write "disappeared" ?
→This might be a little silly, but it was the description of a Kylo Ren fanfiction. Which is why the line "she said" is in there. It's referencing the author of said story. (I would love to give credit, but I sadly didn't save the story, I just stumbled upon it and immediately went on to write the poem).
In the first stanza I basically describe the process of what I was doing while writing the poem, to then go on and wonder/analyze why it struck a nerve with me.
🌷What does this piece mean to you personally?
→To me, 'disappeared' is about the particular sadness one feels when confronted with lost potential. To put that into words was very difficult for me, so I am proud of the poem because I managed to do it.
🌷Was there a particular moment or line in your work that you feel most connected to?
→It's the final two lines: There is a fondness for the lost, A yearning to color in the disappeared. It's the conclusion of what I was trying to say in the poem, and it's the moment I finally understand (and hopefully the reader does too).

🌷How do you usually approach writing - planned or spontaneous?
→For poetry and prose, I both consciously sit down to write it. I usually know where I start and where I want to finish, but I don't plan what happens in between. I try to make the journey as natural and intuitive as possible. Which is why I seldom write in a pre-structured way.
🌷 Do you write more for expression, storytelling, or something else?
→In poetry, I don't try to narrate. I want to condense what I say as poignant as possible. To me, poetry is more about how I say it and not what I say. In my storytelling, on the other hand - like my novella DRYAD or in the fanfiction I write - I pay a lot more attention to the narrative.
However, like in 'disappeared', there are instances where I describe a process in poetry as well.

→Absolutely lovely! I could tell that the team was truly passionate about it.
🌷 What did winning/being recognized mean to you?
→It was a boost, knowing that others enjoy my work. It made me more productive.
🌷 What kind of stories or themes do you enjoy reading from others?
→I'm a sucker for wlw, fanfiction, and playful poetry.
🌷 What advice would you give to writers who are just starting out?
→Always stay true to what you actually want to say.

→Clarity
