Vicky's Pov
I missed him. Yes, I missed Mark. Five years. Five long years. I still loved him. I still thought about him. I put my head in my hands. I had refused to go back home when I left. I kept contact with my parents, but we never visited each other. I just thought it was safer that way. I didn't want Robin to be disliked by her daddy. She'd be heartbroken. I sighed and a few tears leaked out of my eyes. She needed him, that I knew, but I didn't want to take the chance that he might dismiss her. I looked at the phone in my hand, and I did the unthinkable. I called him. It rang three times before someone answered.
"Hello?"
I stayed quiet.
"Who's this?
I missed his voice. It made me feel so alive.
"Hello?"
My breathing quickened, and I giggled slightly. Something about hearing him after so long made me happy.
"Vicky?"
My blood ran cold. How did he know it was me?
"Vicky? Is that you?"
I ended the call, and threw my phone on the couch. Did he really recognize me? I heard knocking on the door, and I stood up and went to answer. I opened the door, and my beautiful bestfriend was standing there. I squealed and threw my arms around her.
"Becca!"
"Vicky!"
"How've you been? How's my litte buttercup?" I asked excitedly.
"He's fine! Getting even blonder."
I laughed her son,Kyle, was blonde. He was in the same class as Robin, and I was really hoping they would get along because they had never interacted before.
"How do you think they're doing?" she asked.
"I really hope they become friends."
She smiled,"Me too because then they might fall in love!"
I laughed,"Becca! They're just little kids!"
"I know, but come on haven't you thought about it?"
"Okay, yes I have but still!"
She laughed,"So how're you feeling?"
My smile faded,"I called him," I whispered.
"Him as in Mark?"
"Yeah."
Her green eyes widened.
"Why Vicks?"
"I don't know, but it's like he knew who I was."
"Really?"
"Yes," I groaned.
"Maybe you should talk to him Vicky. I mean don't you think he has a right to know?"
"I know, but what if he doesn't like Robin?"
"He will! I mean look at her! She's precious!"
I smiled,"Thanks Rebecca."
"Welcome Vicky. You know I love you."
"I love you too!"
I looked at the clock on the wall, and my eyes widened. It was 2:50 and school ended at 3:00!
"Becca we're late! It's 2:50!"
Her eyes widened and we both jumped up and ran toward our cars. We both pulled out of my driveway and went to school. I parked outside, and I saw my little girl standing there. I smiled. She was my everything. Beside her was Rebecca's little boy, Kyle. Strangely, Robin wasn't talking to him. She usually talked to everyone! She's like a little ball of energy, but she looked mad at him? I wondered why. I walked toward her, and her hazel eyes instantly brightened. Hazel eyes. Mark's eyes. I opened my arms and Robin ran toward me. She wrapped her slim arms around me and hugged me. I laughed.
"Mommy!"
"Hey babygirl how was school?"
"It was great! I have a bestfriend now, her name is Tori."
I laughed,"That's wonderful princess! Do you meet Kyle?"
Her smile faded,"Yes, he's mean. "
I arched my eyebrow, "Why?"
"He tried stealing my crackers, then he called me a crybaby and then he said something about my dad."
My eyes widened, "That's not good, but maybe he was just being a boy. Boys aren't always nice."
"I know, but mommy why don't I have a daddy?"
I didn't know what to say. What could I say? That I left my home or something? I sighed. I'd have to be honest.
"Uhh well he doesn't know about you baby."
"Why not?"
"Because I left and I didn't tell him. I don't know where he is now."
She looked sad,"Can't we look for him?"
"I don't think that's a good idea sweetheart. He might not even remember me."
"Oh."
I sighed and held her small hand. I waved to Becca and went to get in the car. I drove home, stealing glances at my little girl. She looked like she wanted to cry, and I found myself thinking. Was it really worth keeping her away from Mark?
