Chapter 8
Vicky's Pov
Ugh, I had stayed home all week due to the stomach flu. I literally could not keep anything down. I was anxious to get back to school. It was already the third week, and I needed to get back. Thank the heavens, I was feeling better. It was Saturday morning and I was still laying in bed. I heard small feet pounding against the floor, and I smiled. Seconds later, the door to my room was opened and in came my little princess.
"Mommy!" Robin yelled, jumping onto my bed.
I smiled,"Hey baby girl how'd you sleep?"
"Wonderful, are you feeling better mommy?"
"Yes darling."
"Yay! So we're still shopping right?"
"Yes Robin, just let me get ready."
"Okay mommy, ima go watch Curious George okay?"
I smiled,"Okay, I'll be with you in a little bit."
"Okay mommy," she said skipping out of the room.
I smiled at her retreating figure, and got out of bed. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and washed my face. I pulled my still damp hair, from my shower last night, out of the braid I had it in. My hair fell in waves down my back. I brought the brush through my hair several times before I quit.
I changed into shorts and a loose shirt and put on my black vans. I walked downstairs, where Robin was waiting.
"Come on Robin."
"Okay mommy!"
She ran toward me and took my hand. I pulled her to the car and I buckled her in. I got into the driver's seat, and started driving to the mall. There were a lot of people, considering it was Saturday. I was suppose to find a fancy dress today, to go to that stupid party that I agreed to go with Anthony. I groaned inwardly, I really hated dresses. I grabbed Robin's hand in mine, and we walked into a store.
"You're going to help me find the right dress right Robby?"
" 'Course momma."
I sighed,"Okay."
I pulled a dress from the rack. It was a soft lavender, with dark violet beads along the waist line. I held it against my body, estimating that it would at least go to my knees. The fabric was tough but soft. I turned to see Robin looking at a red dress. It was floor-length and it was a sweetheart neckline. The breast part, was covered with dark red and silver beads. Both dresses were gorgeous!
"Robin?"
She turned and looked at me,"Yes mommy?"
I held uo the dress I had and pointed to the one she was holding"Which one?"
Her eyebrows creased in concentration,"Try them on mommy."
"Okay."
We walked to the dressing rooms and I walked inside of one. I pulled off my clothes and tried on the lavender dress first. It rested above my knees. I flattened the material against me, from what I could tell it contrasted well against my pale skin. I opened the door to the dressing room and my eyes found Robin.
"How do I look sweetie?"
She gasped,"Mommy you look so pretty!"
I blushed," Thanks baby girl."
"Really mommy! It's perfect."
I smiled warmly,"I'll try the other one on."
She nodded her head and I stepped back into the dressing room. I pulled the dress over my head and slipped on the red one. The silky material flowed out beneath me, making me feel elegant. The dress was made for a like a ball! I stepped outside, and Robin's eyes settled on me.
