-THEN-
"Skye! Skye wait up!" I heard my name being called, the voice was almost swallowed up with the bustling engines and exhausts of the constantly busy streets of New York.
I was here for a two week summer
internship, which I'm grateful for having got it. I owe her one."SKYE!" She screeched and I laughed as I turned around, I put my hands up in surrender when I saw the anger on her face, it looked playful. Or so I thought.
She stomped her way to me, people moving out of her way on seeing her determination.
I tilted my head sideways, my crazy dyed blue ponytail swinging with the motion.
"Sorry Avery. I thought you could keep up." I grinned and crossed my arms.
When she came close enough, she crouched, putting her palms on her knees and heaved, taking in deep breaths to fill her lungs. I rolled my eyes.
"How can summer in New York be 25°?! Shouldn't it at least be 35°? Summer is not meant to be cool! Cool air dries me up, and you walking at the speed of light-" She cut off, taking in deeper breaths.
I shook my head, "Let's go! I'm going to be late and it's my first day! Your uncle gave me the job expecting me to be prompt." I paused, "And thank you, for putting in a good word for me." I smiled and Avery, pulling herself up, smiled proud, "Anything for my best friend's sister!" She chirped and walked ahead, "Come on now, photographer. I need to show you the ropes." She smiled and I sped up to walk along side her.
When we rounded the corner the building could be seen in the distance, the top shimmered and coated with the bright summer sun, I looked at the building and on seeing the name "Evans Work and Art" I shot a sideways smile at Avery.
Her uncle worked in advertising and me being as obsessed with photography as I am, I finally pent up the courage to beg Avery to get me a job. (I didn't like asking people for things)
She shrugged one of her shoulders as she snapped me a wink, and together, we headed to the building, with the wind in our hair and Maria on my mind, she would've loved this, but her lazy butt wouldn't leave the house.
I continued to wish her here all the way to the reception.
-NOW-
AVERY.
I was shaken up, completely broken down. I felt like the floor from under me had shifted or fallen through, I was plunging and suspended and instead of having my arms by my side, expecting the fall, I was falling free with my arms flapping around me.
I was lost.
How was he here? Why was he here? Oh Avery, what are you going to do?
Daniel Waren Silverman was a ghost, you could never find him, unless he found you. A mistake was made a while ago, and now it's coming back to hurt all of us.
After all this time, why come back now? What was the point? He never looked for me before, why now? He came back with initiative. He came with reason, that was what I was scared about. The reason.
Maria never knew the truth about him. I kept her hidden, protected. She didn't go to his 'funeral' she never tried to contact him. I kept her from doing those things.
She could never know the truth, but Daniel was here and everything was now uncontrollable.
A year we were safe, but Daniel Silverman was here to ruin everything.

Художественная проза" "I love you, I'll always love you." His voice deep, sincere, everything I've always needed, everything I fell in love with now stood in front of me, maybe this hell was my heaven. "Save me." I pleaded, and his fingers caressed my cheek, teasingly...
