Kiera's POV
Once we got out of the gym, her led me to the parking lot. I can't believe I'm going over to his house. Further more, I can't believe my mom's allowing it. It really isn't like her. I mean, I've been alone with guys before but in my own house and in my own room. My mom doesn't really care then, because she's there and we can't do anything. Not that I've ever tried doing anything.
Suddenly Daren stopped and I saw him standing in front of a motorcycle. My eyes widen. Does he really thing I'm going to get on that thing? "There is no way in hell I'm getting on that thing." I say in a stern voice. "Why not" he asks incredulously. "Because I'll get killed!" I scream at him. "Oh don't be so dramatic. You're not gonna die" "I'm still not getting on." "Then we won't get to work on the project that you wanted to start on." he says with a smirk. Ugh! I really don't want to get on that thing. But, it's our only way to his house and my ride home. Looks like I'm gonna have too. "Ugh, fine." He laughs and then hands me a helmet. "Come on it's not so bad. Plus, you get to hold on to me the whole way." he says. At the mention of that, my cheeks start to burn. He winks at me then gets on the motorcycle. He helps me put the helmet on. Once it's on, I swing my leg over and sit down behind him. "Make sure to lean to the left or the right when I do." he says. Before I can ask why, he starts the motorcycle. I yelp and immediately wrap my arms around his waist. When we start to move, I wrap my arms even tighter around him. I keep my eyes closed the entire ride and bury my face into his back so the wind doesn't hit my face too much.
Oh my gosh, I'm going to fucking die! I am never doing this again. What was I thinking getting on this thing? I can't believe I did this. What if- "Um, you can let go now." Daren says, interrupting my thoughts. "Oh, r-right." I say, stuttering, obviously showing I was scared. "See, it wasn't so bad, was it?" "Are you fucking kidding me? I was scared shitless!" I scream at him. He laughs at me and puts his hand on my shoulder. "Well it's over now so you can relax......until I drive you home because you have to get on it again." he says with a smirk. "I AM NOT GETTING ON THAT THING AGAIN!" I yell. Then I guess you'll stay the night, since we'll be working on the project pretty late." "I can't stay the night, my mom will kill me." "Then riding the motorcycle home it is." he says with a smirk. God he does that a lot. I huff and mutter "fine."
He walks to the door and unlocks it. He walks in with me following behind him. His house is small but cozy. The walls are an off white color and the floors are made of wood. He puts his book bag on the couch in the living room and takes off his leather jacket. His muscles flex as he takes his jacket off, and I can't help but stare. If his biceps look that good, I can't wait to see his abs. Wait, what? I don't even really know this guy and I'm already wanting to see his abs? What the hell's wrong with me? "You can stop staring at me now." Daren says, pulling me out of my thoughts. "R-right, sorry." I say, completely embarrassed. Daren chuckles and walks into the kitchen. "Do want a snack or something to drink?" he asks. "Um, sure." He comes back a few minutes later with a bowl of original lays chips and a glass of grape soda. I laugh when I see them. "What's so funny?" Daren asks with a confused look on his face. "The fact that you picked out my favorite chips and soda." "Oh." he says. And then, I can't be sure, but I think I saw him blush. Why would he be blushing? He didn't do anything embarrassing or get caught doing something he shouldn't be doing. Why was he blushing.
I follow him into his room. There's a king sized bed in against the wall that's to the left of the door. The sheets are red, which go really well with his black furniture. He has an en-suit bathroom that I wish my room contained. If I did have one, maybe my sister wouldn't get into my stuff all the time. He walks over to the bed and puts the chips down in the middle of the bed, and the sodas on the night stand. He motions for me to some sit on the bed next to him. slowly make my way over and sit down. We sit there in silence for a few moments until I break the silence. "So um, I think we should work on our separate parts of the project on our own. I mean, we can ask each other for help, but the majority of it should be done on our own so we get the same amount of work done." He sits there for a minute without saying anything, just staring at me. "So, we wont be going to each others houses to work on the project?" "No we will because we're partners and we have to work together. What I mean is, we can't make each other do our part of the project for us." I try to explain to him. "Oh ok. I gotcha." he says. "We should get started then." I say. I go in the living room and get my book bag and so does Daren. Once we get back to the room, we get out our materials and get to work.
About 2 hours, one and a half bowls of chips and 2 grape sodas later, we decide to take a break. "So, tell me about yourself." Daren says. "What do you wanna know?" I ask. "Anything you wanna tell me." "Why don't you just ask me the things you want to know." "Ok. Do you have any siblings?" "Yes I have 3." "Your mom and dad must have been busy." he says with a shocked look on his face. I giggle a little at that. "Um actually, no. My mom had me and my sister Jade, but me and her have different fathers. My dad and my ex stepmom had my sister Michelle and we adopted my cousin Alex because her mom, my aunt, couldn't take care of her." Daren looks at me with widened eyes. "Yeah, I know. My families kind of screwed up." I say, a little embarrassed I told him about that. "No their not. I just wasn't expecting that." he says. "Well do you have any siblings?" "No, I'm an only child." "Lucky!" He looks down and laughs. "I guess. Ok, next question.........why are you in the ISP?" "When I was in 5th grade my mom made me fill out the application and write the essay that was required, and mail it to them. I didn't want to go because none of my friends were going, but I did as my mom said. Towards the end of the year, we got the letter saying I was excepted. I was so mad. My mom told me to try it for one year and if I didn't like it, I could leave the next year. When I first started, it was so hard for me. I couldn't keep up with all the homework assignments and the projects. There were even days I would break down because I was so stressed about everything, that I would stay home the next day to relax. But eventually it got easier for me. I decided I wanted to continue with it. Now, I am doing well in all my classes, except for math, and I have amazing friends. This program is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me. It's really all I know though. I've been in this program since it started. But it's worth it due to the education I'm getting." When I finish with my answer, I notice Daren just staring at me. He has a slight smile on his face and I can see happiness in his eyes as if he thought my answer was the most immaculate thing he had ever heard. I stared into his eyes for a little bit until her finally broke the silence. "Wow." "What?" I ask. "I've never heard anyone talk like that." he says still staring into my eyes. Those eyes. Those mesmerizing emerald green eyes. I could get lost in them forever. I get so caught up, I don't even realize he's getting closer. Once he's about 3 inches away from me, he starts to move his face towards mine. Once I realize this, I remember that I just met this guy today. But it feels like I've known him forever. Right before his lips touch mine, I move back, depriving him of the kiss. "Um, I-I think I should go home now." I say, trying to sound calm but failing. "Oh uh, y-yeah. Um, get your stuff and we can go." he says. I can see sadness in his eyes but as soon as it comes it's gone. He leaves the room without another word.
I pack my things into my book bag and walk out of the bedroom and into the living room. He has his leather jacket back on and he's waiting by the door. Once he see's me, he walks out the door, me following close behind. He hands me the helmet. I put it on and hop on the back of the motorcycle and put my arms around his waist. I tell him my address and he drives me home. Once we're close to my house I tell him which one it is. "Its the white one with the blue shutters." He pulls in the drive way, parking his motorcycle. I hop off and take the helmet off and give it back to him. "Um, thanks for the ride home." I say kind of timid. "Yeah no problem. Do you want to come over again Friday so we can work on the project some more?" "Yeah that would be great." "Ok. I'll see you tomorrow around school then." "Yeah, see you tomorrow." I smile and wave goodbye and he returns both gestures. I watch him pull out of the drive way and drive down the road until I can't see him anymore, then I walk into the house.
I say hey to my mom, then go straight to my room. I lay down on ,y bed and can't help but think, "Shit, now things are probably gonna be awkward."
