Daren's POV
"So, how was meeting the parentals Daren?" Max asked, while we were eating lunch outside the cafeteria. "It was ok. Kiera's mom is really nice and her sister is...well I don't really know the right word." Everyone cracked up and so did I. "Yeah, Jade can be a little, what's the word...oh yeah, psycho." Max says. "She wasn't psycho around me. But she did say I was hot." "That's because you are." Kiera said. "Not as hot as you." I whisper in her ear. She turns her face to me and pecks my lips. "Now, back to her sister being psycho." They all look at me expectantly. "How?" They're faces soften with realization. "Well for one, Kiera and I where video chatting on Skype in 8th grade once, working on something for English. Jade comes into the kitchen and sees me on the computer and she says I'm cute. Then the next thing you know, she says she'll bake me in the oven if I get to close to Kiera." My eyes grew huge. He nodded his head. "Do you think she'd actually do it?" I asked. "No. But that was 2 years ago. I was a little freaked out." "I can understand why."
After lunch, Kiera and I went to English together, hand in hand. We got a few odd looks from people. Kiera got glares from some girls and I got glares from guys. She looked a little skittish, so I stopped us and she looked at me confused. I put my hands on both sides on her neck and my thumbs touching her jaw line. I bent my head down and kissed her lips. I nibbled her lip and she opened her mouth for me and I slipped my tounge in for a brief moment. I pecked her lips and then looked at her. "What was that for?" she asked. I smirked at her. "So there's no confusion." I nodded my head in the direction of the people staring and she looked over at them then back at me. She smiled and grabbed my hand and we continued on to our class.
"Wanna go over to mine to work on the project today? Or, to do something else?" I whispered into Kiera's ear. Her face turned red and I smirked. "Yeah, we can do that." "Cool." I stood up and walked around to her seat and made her stand up. I sat down in her seat and brought her down on my lap. "I cant sit on your lap here, we'll get in trouble." she sais. "No we wont. Look, she's not even paying any attention, just like every other class." She had a weary look on her face. She looked at the teacher, then back at me. "Fine." I smirked. "Don't be such a sissy." "I'm not a sissy." "Yes you are. You always do everything you're told. Live a little." "I do live. And I don't do everything I'm told." "Oh yeah?" "Yeah." I get close to her face and her breath hitches. "Prove it." I whisper. She grabs a fist full of my shirt and brings my face close to hers. "Fine" she says and smashes her lips to mine. I lift her up a little and turn her around to face me so she's straddling me. She nibbles my lip and a small moan escapes my lips. She smirks and slides her tounge in my mouth. I put my hands at her butt and pull her closer to me. She giggles and I smile. She releases my shirt and tangles her hands in my hair. She pulls on my hair and I groan. "Excuse me.....EXCUSE ME!" We pull apart and look in the direction of the voice. "Mr. Blake and Miss. Summers what are you two doing.?" "I'm kissing my boyfriend." Kiera says. "And I'm kissing my girlfriend." I say. "Well I suggest you stop of I will have to write you up." Kiera turns back around to me and starts kissing me again. "Miss. Summers stop this instant." I pull away from her breathless. "I think we should stop babe." "Fine." The teacher walks away and she smirks at me. "Told you I don't do everything every one tells me to do." She turns back around still sitting on my lap and I wrap my arms around her waist. Guess I was wrong.
"So, which would you rather do? Work on the project...or watch tv?" I ask once we get to my house. "Hmm...lets watch tv." she says with a smile on her face. I grab her hand and we go to my bedroom. I shut the door and we walk over to the bed and lay down. I turn the tv on and flip through the channels. "Hey stop, I like that show." Kiera says. I go back a channel and the show "The Real World" is on. "You actually like this show?" "Yeah. I watch it with my mom and Jade all the time." "That's cool I guess." I bring her closer to me and she lays her head on my chest along with her hand. I wrap my am around her waist and kiss her forehead. My lips linger there for a moment and her smell is intoxicating. "Daren? Are you ok?" Kiera asks. I have to tell her. I can't hide it anymore. Its killing me that she doesn't know the truth about me. I have to tell her...now. "No Kiera, I'm not. I um, I need to talk to you about something." She sits up and looks at me. "Did I do something wrong?" she asks with confusion in her eyes. "No babe, not at all." "Ok. Then what is it?" "I need to tell you something about myself that no one else knows." I take a deep breath and grab her hands and look into her eyes. Her beautiful blue eyes. I could look into them and get lost in them all day. Stop. Focus Daren. "I'm different from other people Kiera. I look like other people yes, but in my nature I'm different." "She looks at me like she doesn't understand me. Maybe because she doesn't smart one. My brain says. "What do you mean you're different?" she asks. Ok. Might as well just come out and say it. "I'm a vampire." She doesn't say anything. She just sits there and looks at me. "Your kidding right?" she says with a weary smile on her face. "No Kiera, I'm not. I am a vampire." She stand up and looks at me. "No you're not. You cant be. Vampires aren't real." she says, panic and confusion clear in her voice. I get up and walk over to her. I take her hands in mine and look into her eyes. "Do you want me to show you?" I ask. She looks at me, torn. "Yes." she whispers. "Ok." I close my eyes and can feel my fangs elongate. Once they're at they're full length, I open my eyes and see Kiera looking at me unbelievably. Her mouth is partly open and here eyes wide. "You...you...you're a vampire." she struggles to get out. My fangs retract and she relaxes a little. "Yes, I am." "So...so you k-kill people?" she asked frightened. "No. No I don't kill people. I only drink animal blood." She walks over to my bed and puts her head in her hands. "This is a lot to process." "I know. But, I couldn't hide it from you anymore. I wanted you to know who I really am, or , what I really am I guess." It's silent in the room for a while. I can hear her thoughts though. "What the hell have I gotten myself into? What if he hurts me? I don't know what to do. I don't want to leave him. I think I might...I might love him." I smile to myself at her last thought. "Why me?" she asks. "Why you what?" "Why did you pick me to tell?" "Because you're my girlfriend." "That's the only reason?" she asks. "No. Not the only reason." I cut myself off and she looks at me expectantly. "Well?" "There's something else you need to know about vampires." "What is it?" "We have soul mates. The one person we're meant to spend the rest of or lives with." "And have you found yours?" she asks with a sad look in her eye. "Yeah, I have." I lean in closer to her and whisper in her ear. "You." She looks at me and I smile. "I'm your mate?" I nod my head and her lips slightly turn up into a smile. She wraps her arms around my neck and hugs me and I wrap my arms around her waist squeezing her closer to me. Thank god she didn't run away from me. "When did you find out I was your mate?" I smile, a little embarrassed and release her. "Um, do you remember that day when you were walking home and you stopped in the middle of the road and turned around, like you thought someone was following you?" She nits her eyebrows together and nods her head. "Well, earlier that day, when you were waiting on your ride, I saw you. Your scent drew me to you and once I saw you, I knew you were it. I followed you home that day to make sure you made it home ok. I just needed to be near you." She smiled at me leaned in and pecked my lips. "I'm glad I'm your mate." she says. "Me too babe. Me too."
