Kiera's POV

As we walk into the foyer my mouth almost falls to the floor. the floors are a beautiful light brown and the walls are a nice, cream color with elegant portraits on them. A large crystal chandelier hangs from the ceiling. The light is reflecting off of it, creating a scattered, slightly white, image on the floor. There were small, velvet seats along the walls for guests, i presume. The staircase is long and goes in a spiral motion up to the next floor. There are two doors on opposite sides of the foyer and i can hear light chatter coming from both sides.

The clicking of heals halts me of my observations, and I turn my attention towards the door on the left. Daren's mother walks into the room and a tall man follows behind her. "I'm so happy you two could come! It's so nice to meet you Kiera. Daren has told me so much about you." The smile on her face portrays just how happy she really is to see me. I look up at Daren, who looks straight down at me, and smile. Looking back at Claudia, the smile hasn't left her face and it gets a small, shy smile to escape from me. However, I can't say the same for the man behind him.

He has the same black hair as Daren and the same strong jaw. It's apparent that the man is Darens father. They look very much the same. But it's obvious Daren gets his piercing green eyes from his mother. Diana looks up at the man behind her, expectantly, but all he does is continue to stare in my direction. She clears her throat and looks back at Daren and I, "why don't we go and introduce you to the rest of the family now?" she recommends and I nod my head. Daren grabs my hand and all three of us follow Diana into, what I presume, it the living room. There are several people sitting around, chatting. Some look to be around my age, some younger and some older. As soon as all four of us enter the room, everyone is quiet. "Everyone, this is Daren's girlfriend and mate, Kiera." Diana introduces me with a smile. I am greeted with a chorus of 'heys' and 'hi's', waves and hugs. I wave back, returning . "Well, everyone, breakfast is being served in the kitchen. Please come and help yourselves."

"Are you still hungry for breakfast?" Daren asks me. To be honest, I so did not have an appetite for food anymore. I was way too nervous to eat right now. Even the thought of food at this moment was making me feel nauseous. I looked at him and shook my head. He chuckled and kissed my forehead then whispered in my ear, "Relax babe, everything is going to be fine. I can already tell my parents adore you. Well, my mom at least. But by the end of the day i know everyone else will too." I gave him a small smile and we just sat in the living room, me on his lap, while people were getting their food from the kitchen.

"Daren! What's up man?" Daren and I turned around and a tall buy with dirty blonde hair and brown eyes came walking up to us. Hmm. Cute. Daren's head turned straight towards me and he glared at me. Oh shit. I stared into his eyes, apologizing the best I could at the moment. He turned back to the guy and they hugged. "Where you been?" The guy asked. "Parents kicked me out. I've been living in North Carolina for a while now." The guy nodded his head and was sporting a grin. "Any hot chicks down there?" he asks. I can feel Daren looking at me from the corner of my eye. "Just one. And she's not hot, she's beautiful." My stomach started going crazy with butterflies and my heart was beating super fast. I looked up at him and we held each others gaze. "I love you." I thought. He smiled at me and I returned it with a small one of my own. Some one cleared their throat, snapping us out of our little moment. "So, I'm guessing she's the mate?" Daren nods his head and wraps his arm around my waist. "Hi, I'm Frankie." He extends his hand I take it, the coldness of his hand familiar yet unwanted. "Kiera." I say kind of quiet. "It's very nice to meet you Kiera." he says and winks before nodding to Daren and walking away.

Next thing I know, I'm being pulled by my wrist into another room. There are selves of books as far as I can see. If only my room was like this. I could get lost in a new book everyday. "KIERA!" I jumped and turned to look at Daren. I hadn't even hear what he was saying. "Sorry. What were you saying?" He takes several steps to reach me. I hadn't realized I had moved around while in my thoughts. "What is wrong with you?" I could feel my eyebrows scrunch together and my nose scrunch up a little. "They can hear everything you think!" Finally realizing what he was saying, I felt embarrassed. His whole family could have heard me call Frankie cute, if they were paying attention. "And I'm your mate Kiera! I should be the only guy you are looking at in that way!" He wouldn't stop yelling at me. I could feel the tears brimming my eyes, but I wansn't going to let them fall. He was not going to see me upset like that again. "Stop yelling at me." I looked him straight in the eye and my voice sounded normal, thankfully. His eyes became a shade darker and I could tell he was getting even more upset. "I will yell at you if I damn well please! You should not be looking at other guys Kiera! Let alone thinking they "cute" or "hot" or whatever the hell it is!"

He was being such a hypocrite. "You will stop yelling at me. Right. Now. And you're one to talk Daren. I've seen the way you look at other girls too. And I bet you think worse things about them than I do about guys!" His eyes softened a little. He knew I was right. I have seen him look at other girls plenty of time, but I never said anything because I didn't want to fight. Looks like that plan failed. He walks up closer to me and lowers his head so he's in my face. "You will not look at another guy. And that is final." he says in a stern voice. He turns around and walks out of the room, slamming the door behind him.

I sit on one of the satin chairs one of the sides of a big desk that was standing in a corner of the room, putting my head in my hands. Did we really just have a fight over something like that? All I thought was that he was cute. God! He's right though; I shouldn't have been looking at Frankie like that. And I shouldn't have thought about it. Especially with Daren right beside me. I can't even believe I told him what to do. Twice! But that still didn't give him the right to yell at me. We really don't need this right now. It's spring break and we're supposed to be having fun together. What a great way to start out our vacation, right?

Standing up, I walk over to the door, open it and walk out. I find my way back into the living room. Daren isn't in there. But Frankie is. I walk over to where he is sitting and tap him on the shoulder. He turns around and smiles at me. "Hey, have you seen Daren?" He shakes his head. "You can check outside though or in the music room which is through the kitchen and to the left. Those are the two most likely places he'll be." "Alright. Thanks." Turning around, I set off to find the music room.

When I get there, he isn't there. The room is completely empty except for the grand piano sitting right in the middle of the room and different kinds of instruments lining one of the walls. I turn back around and head for the front door. As I'm on my way, I pass through the living room and see him standing in a corner talking to a girl who can't stop smiling at him. I start to walk over to him when I come to a halt. She's......she's kissing him. What the fuck! Who the hell is that?! I turn continue walking until I reach the front door. Opening it up as fast as I can, it feels like the door could have come off its hinges. I start running down the street as fast as I can, tears running down my face. I feel like I can hear a faint noise behind me, but I ignore it.

Running until I'm out of breath, I end up stopping at an old cafe. Not wanting to stand in the cold for a while, I walk in and take a seat in one of the blue booths. An older woman, maybe in her late fifties, walks over to me and takes out a note pad. "Can I get you anything, honey?" She gives me a sympathetic smile and I wipe one of my eyes. "Yeah. A new boyfriend."
