- Henley POV -

Today is the day Abel gets out of the incubator.

Gemma is heading over now to pick me up. We'll sit at the hospital and wait, then when Jax comes we'll finally get to hold him.

I hurried and got dressed, downing the rest of my coffee, even though it was still hot. I was so excited.

Jax and I have been good. I don't have any suspicions about him and Tara, at the moment. She's still Abel's doctor, but Jax comes home at night.

I never asked for details about how far Jax and Tara went. I don't need those etched in my head. If they slept together... I'm fine with living in ignorant bliss. I don't need to know.

He knows that I won't stay with him the next time he screws another pussy that isn't mine. I don't think he plans on fucking up again.

I heard the horn beep, signalling that Gemma was here. I grabbed my purse, keys, and a book to read before heading out to her car.

"You excited, mommy ?", she asked me.

I couldn't help but smile when she called me that.

"I'm very excited, grandma", I replied.

We got to the hospital and went straight to Abel's room. About an hour in, Gemma got a phone call from Clay, and said she needed to call Luann. It left me and Abel all alone.

"I know I'm not your real mommy, little guy. I'm not sure if I'll be any good at it, but I really want to try. I love you and your daddy so much. I just can't wait to see him hold you", I said to him quietly, looking at his little face that was a carbon copy of Jax's.

"You're gonna be a real ladies man, too. Just like your daddy. But I'm gonna teach you the real way to get a lot of girls. Good girls. I'm gonna teach you how to be a gentleman", I continued talking to him.

We went on having our one-sided conversation for a while, then I decided that I was gonna get some coffee and find Gemma.

When I found her she was in the waiting room.

"Why didn't you come back ?", I asked her, taking a seat next to her.

She smiled at me.

"You were having a conversation with your son. I didn't wanna interrupt", she said.

I gave an embarrassed smile. I didn't even hear her come in the room.

Then Tara came out.

"Dr. Namid is still in surgery. It's gonna be a while before we can get him out", she said.

"Thanks, doc", Gemma said, giving Tara the fakest smile I have ever seen in my life.

"You don't have to be so mean to Tara, Gem", I said, surprising myself.

"Maybe I would be a little less mean to her, if you were a little more mean to her", Gemma said, causing me to laugh.

She was right. Tara has knowingly caused Jax to cheat on me, twice. And I still, have never even raised my voice to her.

"That bitch has gotten lucky, twice", I said, mostly to myself, causing Gemma to laugh.

It was closer to the time that we'd finally get to hold Abel. Gemma and I were waiting in Abel's room for Jax.

He showed up and gave Gemma a kiss on the cheek and me a peck on the lips. I could see the excitement all over his face. He couldn't wait to hold his son.

A few minutes later, Tara came in holding Abel.

She handed him to Jax, whose eyes were watering. He looked like a completely different man. I've only seem Jackson cry twice in my entire life: the day his little brother died and the day his father died.

Seeing him hold his son, it made me love him even more. Gemma, Tara, and I started to leave to give Jax some alone time with his son, when I felt a hand on my wrist.

It was Jax.

"Come hold your son", he said, causing tears to fall from my eyes.

I walked next to him and sat down. He handed Abel to me. The second the little boy was in my hands... I fell in love. He was perfect. I kissed his forehead and smiled.

This was my son.

- 3rd Person POV -

Gemma and Tara watched the family from the window in the door as Jax and Henley held Abel.

"She's gonna be a good mom", Gemma said to Tara, not taking her eyes of the pair with the little boy.

"Yeah... I can see how much she loves him", Tara replied.

"Abel or Jax ?", Gemma asked.

"Both...", Tara answered, with a small laugh.

"You still gonna try and get between that ?", Gemma asked Tara.

Gemma wanted nothing more than for her son to be the with the person he loved. The person who was right for him. And that person is, and will always be, Henley.

"It was never me. I remember every fight Jax and I ever had. Every single time, I could feel him comparing me to her. Even if I could get in between that, he'd never love me as much as he loved her", Tara admitted more to herself than she did to Gemma.
