"Fili, Kili, shh, she might hear you!" Elaine whispered to her imaginary versions of her favorite characters, Fili and Kili.
"Elaine, I know you're there." Elaine's mother, Amy, said.
"Mama, can you read The Hobbit to me?" Pleaded little 8 year old Elaine said as she came out around the corner and held the book. "Please?"
"We've read it about a hundred time, sweetie. Don't you think it might a little tiring?" Her mother said. "Can't you ask your father?"
"I already asked him. And he said no." Elaine said.
"Okay, I'll read it to you."
"Yay!" Elaine squealed.
