Chapter 1

We're all crowded around the TV, anxiously waiting for Joey's new hit to play on the screen.

"Do you guys think this is weird?" Camila breaks the silence.

We all nod in agreement and laugh a little, realising that our best friend is turning into a world known boy band member. I haven't seen him for a while now, just occasional letters and phone calls that we'd share with the group, telling us that there are so many girls and meetings and he just can't keep up with it all. Joe came back for a visit a few months ago, but of course I was away at Philadelphia visiting my Dad's family, just my luck. Although, he did say that there was a slight chance in between tour the whole band could stopover to see each others hometown and that I would see him then.

40 minutes had gone by and we were starting to get bored.

"I'll be dreamin' dreamin' hoping baby you'll be there, I'll be dreamin' hoping baby you'll be there."

Heidi quietly sang along with the TV, swaying her head and clicking her fingers to the beat. The song finished and we heard a familiar sound that got us to our feet.

"We've been together for a long time baby, do you have to leave?"

Camila and Heidi screamed as they saw little Joe walking with the other members. I laughed hysterically, watching both the TV and my two friends act like crazed fans.

"Cindy, Camila, it's the cute one!" Heidi pointed to the boy with the black cap turned to the side, I assume his name is 'Jordan' trying to rehash my memory from the time Joe was showing us pictures and telling us all about these boys. I remember how excited he was to tell us this 'big news'. At first, I had to admit I didn't think it would go anywhere, and now I'm here sat in front of their first music video on live television.

"Yeah, Jordan," Camila answers my thoughts.

It was annoying, every second Jordan  appeared in the video Heidi would swoon. Camila was smirking and humming along with the song, Heidi and I instantly knew what she was blushing about... Joe. She's had the biggest crush on him since 3rd grade but has never said a word to him about it. Two gorgeous girls appeared walking on Coney Island, followed by Joey absolutely stunned by their beauty. We all started giggling at the corny video, it was ridiculous.

The song slowly started to fade away. Heidi got up to turn the TV off, no one spoke. Realisation hit all of us in the face, Joey was just on MTV.

We never saw him as much as we used to, it's so unusual to think that a year ago we would see him at school then hang out on the weekend with our other friend Matty. Us 5 spent most of our time together, there's 13 of us in the bigger circle but we have the people we are closer to. Heidi and Matty hang out at Joey's like it's their second home, their excuse whenever they go is because "Kay is lonely" acting as if they have no clue that her other 8 children exist. I never want to go, partly because I get moody when I realise how long since I've last seen Joe.

"This means I don't have as much of a chance as I did before, doesn't it?" Camila asked with a smile on her face, she was laughing at herself.
"God I was stupid, I'm so stupid!"

Heidi and I looked at each other, not knowing what to say, she was right, 100% completely right.

"Oh, look at that, I need to go, love you girls." Camila quickly swept it off and left, she hates to be open with anyone but her Mom.

I left Heidi's a little after Camila, Scott picked me up and came back to mine for a while. It was same old same old, we watched a movie and then he left halfway through. We've been together for a year and a half now and things aren't the way they used to be. It's like the both of us have run out of things to say. I think the reason we are still together is because if we break up, it would divide our friends into two groups and we've been with each other since middle school.

I come back to reality when I hear a loud bang come from down stairs. I quickly jolt up and pause the movie. I check the time, reading 3:24pm, my parents don't come home until 6.

"Oh my god, what do I do?" I whisper to the wall as if someone's there to tell myself I'm not alone, yet I am. I start to hear my Dad's old record player play old 50's music, it sounds familiar.

"I've got you under my skin, I've got you deep in the heart of me."

Frank Sinatra, wait the only way I know Frank Sinatra is because of...
"Joey!" I scream as I open my door and run down the stairs. I finally reach the room and see my other idiotic friends Brian and Alexia ballroom dancing, they see me and burst out laughing. Are they serious? I walk to the record player and lift the needle arm off the record.

"Joey!" They both imitate me.

"Do you guys have nothing better to do?" I ask in defeat, they were the annoying couple of the group, feeling each other up right when we would all hang out and putting their opinion in places they don't belong.

"Aw, Cindy don't be like that" Brian offers me a hug.

"Stop. How did you get in here?"

"Scott gave us his key," Alexia giggled.

"Can you leave, like, right now please?"

"Ooooo, bye Cindy!" Brian dragged Alexia out of the house, leaving the key on the cabinet.

"Ugh, assholes!" I cursed under my breath as the door closed. Referring to all 3 idiots. How could he let them do that?
