Hello everyone!!
So, it's been... a while. My bad.
My excuse; Partly that I haven't had much time on my hands, partly that this is a super important chapter, and I wanted to ensure that it would be important. I essentially psychoanalyzed the details as best as possible. But, this is roughly 80 pages long (aka 18341 words... The longest chapter that I have ever written throughout the story – the second longest being just over 60), so I hope that sorta makes up for it?
That being said... TYSM for 600k!!
Thank you soso much for everything :'))) It always blows my mind frfr, and I hope you all know how appreciative I am of the unending support, even when I don't post as consistently anymore. I'm trying to come up with a solution for that, just struggling on the right means to pursue it? If that makes sense.
Without further ado...
Happy reading <3333

Black and white.
How it'd always been.
She speaks with her mother, walking out the door. A basket's in-hand, swinging in a steady rhythm – back and forth, back and forth – Mentally repeating the list of all the things needed for that night's supper.
The island is small, the village no different; close-knit.
Find the local fisherman first, then the farmer's wife... Share a long chat with the old crow, who somehow keeps her spices stocked to the brim...
Barely paying attention, she's headed home. The sun is low.
A bump– A collision, more like – into her shoulder.
There's nothing gentle about it. Feet scuff, balance is lost–
And something's changed.
Why were the colors different?
Friendly, familiar faces aren't stuck in that dull, muted gray. Not anymore. Rather, they're flush with something warm, something she hasn't seen before...
A head of black hair, walking in the opposite direction.
Him. Innately, she knows it. Had been waiting for it – For him.
Entranced, she watches. He would look back. If it was him, he would look back.
Waiting... Waiting...
Why wasn't he turning around?
Foolish.
The dirt road is thin. Ornery passerby's call, and still, she stares; Distraught.
Was it a mistake? A fluke?
The sky is growing dark.
It's okay – she thinks – to wait just a moment longer.
The moment passes. She waits more.
He turns. Finally turns,
The world explodes with saturated tones. Blooming, magnificent.
It's the color of life, of warmth and love... Supposed to be. This felt nothing like that, not to her.
He's glaring.
