The next day
With Anna
It was evening and Anna had been waiting patiently all day for this moment. She wore dark skinny jeans and a purple sweater. She had fixed her hair, touched up on her makeup before she stood in front of the mirror to check on her overall appearance. Anna looked at the clock, it was almost eight which was the time Jared and her had agreed to meet. Anna bit her lower lip. She was nervous. She couldn't believe she had the guts to ask a vampire out, but she couldn't help it. She had an instinct feeling that Jared was different.
Jared had been different from any other guy that crossed her path. Anna had never been this interested in anyone in her life. She never summoned up the courage to ask any guy out before like this time, and all of the guys she liked before had never come close to match Jared's energy. It was something she wanted to explore, and she didn't mind all the nervousness she was feeling.
Anna sighed nervously just before the doorbell rang. It was exactly eight. Anna shook off her feelings and told herself that it would be okay. It was what she wanted after all. She took a deep breath and descended the stairs. Jared was standing outside and smiled softly when she opened the door.
"Hi." She said. All nervousness replaced by warmth and excitement.
Their eyes lingered for a moment. There was a sense of ease that Anna had felt in his presence. It felt natural to be herself.
"You ready to go?" he asked, his voice hoarse and deep.
Anna blushed as she nodded then followed him out.
" I forgot how nice this park was. I haven't been here in years." Jared said as they walked in one of the town's largest and oldest parks. The was a lake that connected to the sea, with long trees here and there. It wasn't crowded, which Anna thought it perfect. The weather was breezy and cold, yet Anna didn't mind either since she was used to it.
"How long have you been in town?" Anna asked, as she wondered how he's been here, in the same town as her and had never saw him before.
" Five years, but there had to be a few meetings with the Mayor of course before we were finally allowed to roam the town as we wished." Jared's glanced at Anna smiling.
It was part of the law for vampires moving in to Verum Valley. Anna had forgotten about it since the law was set, as she never had any vampire friends too who could talk about these things with her. Just like foreigners, Vampires had to sign papers and be asked a million questions before they were allowed to settle into town. One would think that they would be the ones who controlled the town, but Jared was surprised to find out that the mayor had many vampires in his office. This was how they were able to control vampires and keep peace in town.
" It's strange that you have been here all this time and I haven't seen you once." Anna looked amused as she stared at Jared.
Jared raised his eyebrows and matched her smile. "I'm...more of an introvert if you'd say , but I do spend some time outside the house as well. Maybe not amongst a lot of people."
Anna paused for a second then asked, " what do you do with your time then? if I can ask."
" I paint." Jared told her with a passionate smile. I always had. Ever since I was human. "
"Really?" Anna's eyes lit up with interest. "I paint too! but it has been a while since I did. ..." She looked away for a second then asked, "what do you like to paint?"
"When you live that long, you try out many things. So essentially everything." Jared smiled kindly. "Maybe I could show you my work sometimes if you'd like to."
