Tension pulled at illaoi's throat as she stood on deck. Her eyes were focused, just not on anything that seemed to matter. Unwelcome but not unpleasant memories invaded her senses. So close to someone lost to her and himself, it was something more complex than herself. It is the beauty of what she preaches, life with all its beautiful shifts and dynamics. But didn't felt it so blissful now.
All the chatter of her crewmates became white noise against the wind. She gripped her talisman in one hand. Was her goddess testing her again? Is this why it all felt so confusing and hurtful?
Her goddess would never forsake her, but how was she supposed to navigate this. How was a remedy to a near apocalypse supposed to be found within an arms reach? Those dark clouds symbolised demolition. Were she to fail...
And Gangplank, how had fate decided to punish her by bringing him to her feet again.
"Anyone have any bright ideas on how to get there in time?"
The redheaded captain spoke, her smile laced with sickly anger that seethed below the surface.
"Maybe. I can channel the wind, bring it to our aid. As i have done before."
The ionian swordsman said with a gruff.
The vastayah then perked up at his proposal. Her ears giving a slight twitch. Although her eyes slightly averted themselves from her crew, perhaps in a sliver of unfounded uncertainty as she spoke.
"I could help support you. Feed you energy. If for a time...removing your body's natural limits."
"It is not something i have done before...but i deem it possible."
Sarah gave a small chuckle at her tailed companion.
"Sounds crazy. Must be why i like it. Let's get the party started."
Through all the nagging thoughts that seemed to invade the holy conscience of the priestess, a sliver of what urgency remained resurfaced.
Her gigantic frame suddenly stepped towards them.
"While you speed up across the sea to our enemy. I shall speak to our foe nearer at hand."
A laugh escaped Sarah.
"Hah! Good luck with that. Gangplank was shouting all kinds of nonsense when i locked him up."
Illaoi just stepped past her captain with a bitter taste at the base of her tongue. The priestess bit down her words, for it was not time to spew poison.
The floorboards creaked as she walked past empty rooms. Conflicting thoughts clashed hard enough to be mistaken for voices. Perhaps a part of her now understood what The Blood Harbor Ripper meant.
She saw the door she wanted to turn away from. Uncertainty clawed at her scalp when she bit the side of her cheek, walking forward without a hesitation in her step. It was what she was, what she is meant to be. A beacon of certainty, of strength. She had no choice but to walk forward.
The creek of the door alerted both her and the man splayed on the floor in shackles of her arrival. He looked somehow both helpless and vicious.
"Illaoi...come to gloat have you?"
A fang of both pain and anger took root on her face.
"You tried to trade your soul for power, but now look at you. Sarah Fortune will execute you the moment we return to Bilgewater."
