We arrive at the beach and practically jump out of the car. I race to the waves, leaving dad to unpack the car. I splash and swim and when dad calls lunch I reply grumpily. We eat and I wait for what feels like years but only half an hour.
In the meantime, I build an amazing sand castle with a little help from dad. "So, how has your day been?" Dad asks when I finish the castle. "It has been amazing!" I reply with meaning, "but I do want to go surfing." When half an hour is up I grab my surfboard and race into the water.
I paddle a distance from the beach and wait for the perfect wave. I wait for a long time.I finally pick the perfect wave and start paddling. 1, 2... I hear a splash behind me. I keep paddling and ignore it. 3,4,5 ... there it is again. I turn my head toward the noise. 6... and I pop up on my board and hear another splash. "What the..." I wobble as I lose my concentration. I plunge into the water. I swear under my breath when I resurface.
I see a dark, almost invisible, gray shape in the water, heading in my direction. I paddle to my board and climb onto it, worried about the shape. I hear another splash and something snap around one of my legs and the board. I turn my head, my vision glazed with fear.
Pain. All I feel is pain. I lash out with my other foot and the pressure on my leg disappears. I saw a gray shape with black eyes and rows of teeth turn invisible in the water. My vision is penetrated by red dots, dancing all over the beach in the distance. I speed up my paddling, wanting to get away from the shark as quick as possible.
"Shark!" I scream when I get close to the beach. "Alyson! ALYSON!" Dad screeches when he sees me. He runs into the water, grabs the surfboard and drags it through the water to the beach. I see his worried face and I see his mouth moving but nothing is coming out. I hear sirens and my leg feels like a car ran over it. "D-Dad" I stutter before the world goes black.
Sorry the chapter is so short! It is just that this is the perfect ending to it so sorry about the length.
