As I opened my eyes, light flooded my vision. I felt slightly sick. I shifted, and all I could feel was pain. I knew, at that instant, I needed a hospital.
"Ru....vik..." I choked, barely able to form a sentence. The pain was too great for me to be able to focus, and everything around me was blurry. I slowly struggled out of the bed, but unfortunately I fell to the floor as Ruvik was nowhere to be found in the vicinity. I grabbed my leg. My foot must be infected...the wound must not have been clean. As I struggled to my feet, I knew I needed to do something.
The mirror. There was a hospital in the mirror. My head whipped around to the corner where the mirror normally rested, but I then remembered that Ruvik had taken the mirror, rather than replacing it, at my request. I stood up, pain filling my feet as I leaned on one of them for more support. I limped over to the door, opening it. I had to find a mirror.
As I exited the door, I was in a long hallway. I looked behind me, but the door to the Red Room was gone and I was alone. What seemed to be a person shambled towards me- it looked like a nightmare in itself. It stopped, then began to run at me. I quickly turned around, limping towards the other end of the hallway. Ruvik had said they wouldn't do anything to me. Then why was this one chasing me?
I continued to limp forward until I hit something- or someone. It was a man. He had black hair and was covered in blood. He held a crossbow, and he let the bolt fly, hitting the corpse. He quickly walked over to the corpse, took out a match, lighted it, and dropped it on. The corpse went up in flames like paper would.
"Now, we can talk. Who are you? I haven't met you yet." He said, his voice unsympathetic. He seemed a little robotic...but maybe he was trapped here, too.
"I'm...um. Well, I...Elise. I'm Elise. Who are you?" I said. He walked over to my left side, wrapping his arm around me to support my weight.
"Sebastian Castellanos. I'm a detective, and I'm currently looking for a person named Leslie. Have you seen him? He's short, has white hair, and has a straight jacket." Mr. Castellanos seemed emotionless. It was scary, to the point where I feared him. He helped me walk. "Where are we going, Elise?"
"I'm looking for a mirror. There's a hospital there." I replied hastily, trying to move forwards. I didn't want to spend time near this man. Something told me that it would end badly if I did.
"There's one nearby; I'm surprised that you also go there, too. Unfortunately, I can only take you to the mirror, I can't go with you. I have a more important mission at the moment." I don't think I minded the fact we'd be splitting up soon.
As we got to the mirror, I let of of Mr. Castellanos. "Thank you for helping me."
"No problem. Be safe." He walked away, not looking back. He stopped before exiting the room. "You can come with me. It would be safer if we didn't split up."
"It's fine. I can easily escape through the shadows if I need to. I'm pretty agile." I quickly replied. I didn't want to be near this man.
As he walked out of the room, I turned to the mirror. I felt the similar feeling of what happened before, as it pulled me within it's depths.
"My, my. Am I to understand that you are to become a patient of this place?" The nurse said, pushing the wheelchair forwards. It only just hit me that I was in a wheelchair.
"I need help. Can you help me?" I asked, staring at her.
"Indeed I can, Miss Elise. Unfortunately, payment is required." She replied.
"I don't have anything to pay you with."
"You're not going to be paying physically."
"Then what am I paying with?"
"You'll find out soon enough, the heavy price that you shall pay."
"...More riddles?"
"I take it you don't like riddles?"
"No. I don't." I replied, crossing my arms. We entered a room and she opened a cupboard, taking out some ointment.
"Put this on your foot. It will cure it within an hour." She handed me the ointment and I slathered it over both of my feet, just in case. She then pushed the wheelchair out of the room, towards the desk. She then picked up a knife, holding it out to me.
"What are you giving me this for?" I asked, reluctant to take it. Why would I need a knife?
"Because you're the only one close enough to prevent what's coming."
"Prevent what's coming?" I asked, frowning. I took the knife from her, and I could see myself in the reflection it brought to my eyes.
"Indeed. You'll know when the time comes. Make the right choices, Elise. Fate rests on your shoulders. Your decision shall shatter or fix the mind of a psychopath."
With that, the nurse disappeared. I held the knife as I got out of the wheelchair and walked towards the mirror. The fuzzy feeling began, as I was sucked into it.
Everything began to burn like a film reel, and I was in my room.
Not the Red Room.
My room.
"Pathetic. You're weak."
My mother's shrill voice rang through my ears.
"You're weak!" My mother raised the belt and it hit me in the face, causing me to fall to the floor. "How dare you try to best the strong?! Why do you insist on ruining everything we set for both of your lives?!"
My hands were wrapped in casts. I hadn't been able to use them for two weeks. The doctor said they'd be fine by next year.
"Your sister deserves the world, and you're trying to take it away from her. I knew I should have abandoned you. Your father.... was a despicable man, Elise."
HETEROPATERNAL SUPERFECUNDATION.
Those words ran through Elise's head.
Yes, her twin and her had different fathers.
Elise's father...the one her mother had an affair with. The bad boy.
Elise's 'fake' father wouldn't accept her. Wouldn't even acknowledge her existence. He'd only ever recognize her if she acted like her sister.
A click resounded as I looked at my mother. A gun was pointed between my eyes.
"I should return you to the hell from where you came."
