The pendulum swung, back and forth, back and forth, over and over. Yet, she couldn't bring herself to break away, her eyes burning as she dared not close her eyelids. What had it all been for? The death and decay. God, just the stench of  decay filled her nose with a burning sensation she could barely handle.

Her hands clasped together, she prayed. A weak, feeble prayer at most but one that she could not do without; she prayed that god might forgive her sins, that if she might be forgiven that he be merciful. She had seen hell. She had lived hell. And it wasn't over.

Stay, and make sure he doesn't turn into a monster.

What sort of assistance could she have offered to someone who was already basked in the darkness of their own sins? Someone who loved the woman who looked like his sister? Elise, or Laura? Who was she to him? The question had never truly been answered for her visage was that of his sister's.

There was no saving darkness itself, but she was already damned, so what harm would there be in trying?
