The city was unusually quiet at least, quiet for Mei.

Her phone buzzed as she finished tightening the wraps around her wrists and adjusting her family's sword on her back. Expecting another training reminder, she glanced down and instead found a message from MK.

MK: Sorry Mei 😭 Monkey King says I need to work on "focus." Apparently that means no hanging out today.

A second text followed immediately.

MK: Also I still have delivery runs.

Then another.

MK: And apparently learning focus while doing delivery runs???

MK: I don't know either.

Mei snorted.

Mei: Good luck.

MK: I am suffering.

Mei: Focus harder.

MK: Betrayal.

Shaking her head, she slipped her phone back into her pocket and started her motorcycle. If MK was busy, then she knew exactly where she was spending her afternoon.

The familiar dojo beneath Macaque's home greeted her with the scent of polished wood and incense.

She barely had time to set down her helmet on the benches by the door before two wooden staff came flying toward her face.

Mei yelped as instinct took over and drew her sword to meet the next blow.

Clack!

The staffs bounced away harmlessly as Macaque sat on one of the support beams above, looking entirely too pleased with himself. As his tail swayed side to side in mischief as the two shadow clones continued after Mei.

"Your reaction speed is improving." He said as he lounges on his belly while resting his head on the back of his hand as he watched the training.

"YOU COULD HAVE WARNED ME!" As Mei barely dodged an attack from the right while simultaneously deflecting the blows from the left.

"I just did."

"After! You attacked !!"

Macaque ignored her and gave a mischievous grin.

"Again."

Two more shadow clones emerged from opposite sides of the room.

One carried a spear.

The other a kusarigama (chain sickle)

Mei immediately groaned as she dodged an incoming head swing.

"Oh come on ~"

"Today's lesson," Macaque said and he reappears from the shadows leaning against pillar lining on it with his arms casually crossed "is surviving multiple opponents."

The clone with the spear attacked first.

The clone with the kusarigama followed half a heartbeat later.

Mei barely avoided being caught between them, especially the one with the kusarigama as it did hidden attacks at random trying to wrap her around with the blunt spiked chain while she delt with the other three attacks.

Hours passed.

Again and Again.

Her custom fighting style was finally beginning to take shape as she continued to move through the training. Grounded footwork and Flowing transitions with her Dragon techniques woven between sword forms with her family's sword.
