"Mine." Sentinel whispered into my thoughts.

Mate!

Mine. Mine. Mine!

I could hear darkness of the forest watching with a hungry protection. The bonfires' fumes tasted lividly orange. Swaying figures coiled around each other, spooling into a jumble of writhing water snakes charmed into motion by music I couldn't quite hear. What was real in all the alienness?

Only your scent.  Faint, as though a candle burning at the eye of a ragging storm lured me teasely towards you. I will never know how I arrived before you.

But there you were, right before me, within arm's reach. The elation of seeing you again was like being subjected to forces of extreme heat and cold, both searing in their own right. Somehow you were even more beautiful than in my recollection, a little taller, your freckles fewer, perhaps in hibernation for winter. Your big, brown doe eyes, moistened with confusion and so much panic, peered up at me,  trying to make out whether or not I was truly real. I could see in you a little of what I felt inside.
He held you, cocooned in his arms. His nose buried in your curls, eyes darkened to obsidian in primal possessiveness. They were warning me. Warning me that you are his. Juno's mate. His future Luna. And that I had lost.

Rage, unfathomable rage.

Mate. Mine. Mine! Mate! Mate!

He growled. Low, warningly. And the air around us shifted palpably. His scent thickened, heavy with foreboding. Rain with the promise of a thunderous domineering worthy of his Alpha blood. The crowds thinned out,  skittering away with haste to corners afar.

"Control yourself," he ordered. It was barely but a whisper yet authority rang heavy, true, final.

You flinched.

A primal growl ruptured through my throat as I fought back against the weight of his command. Sentinel pressed against the  metaphorical cage of my mind with such intensity that he began oozing out like rotting slugs being squished in a jar of putrid vomit. I felt him churn out from me not as much as my wolf-form but as the embodiment of my torment, inadequacy, fear, jealousy, self-loathing and helplessness. Ugly and sorry yet uncontrollable.

Mate! Mate! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine! Mate! Mate! Mine! Mine!

He pushed you behind himself and shifted into his wolf. His wolf nudging you further away with his nose protectively as if I would hurt you.

The fear in your eyes hurt far more than the cumulation of my separation from you.

Suddenly, I felt tired. I wanted to rest. Just a little bit. I can do that now that I have seen you. I smiled. I allowed that inescapable tagging to pull me into that place where Sentinel goes for me to remain human.
