When we finally got to LA I was bouncing up and down in my seat on the plane. If you couldn't tell I was only slightly excited. We walked through LAX and hoped that there wouldn't be any fans around that would recognize us and ruin the surprise for Luke.
The über we got in took us to the hotel we where going to be staying in for the night before the concert.
"Mom I'm so excited! This is going to be amazing!" She looked at me and smiled widely.
"I know you are, sweetie. And by the way, tomorrow morning you have a meeting with a talent agent. It's one of the main reasons why we came out here. She saw one of your YouTube videos and fell in love with you." My eyes widened as I heard the news. I can't wait to tell Luke about this!
Since it was quite late, and I was really tired from the journey over here, (Yes, traveling can be exhausting) I decided to go to sleep. I also had a big day tomorrow so I was going to need the extra rest!
~NEXT MORNING~
I woke up to my mom shaking my shoulder slightly. "Harley, it's time to wake up. You have to meet with the talent agent." She smiled at me. I rolled over and tried hiding my face in between two pillows.
"Do I have to get up? What time is it?" I groaned. I was probably jet-lagged from the time difference but I wouldn't know what that's like since I've never been out of Australia. "Sweetie, it's 10:30. The meeting is at twelve so you have to be ready." Finally giving in, I got out of the warm bed and went into the hotel bathroom to shower. I still can't believe that I'm meeting with a talent agent. It's so unusual to me, because Myla is usually the one that gets all the attention from everyone.
Speaking of Myla, she's actually in LA right now too. I knew she was coming to meet with her manager, she made it very clear to Kenzie and I. What I was most excited for though, was that Myla was a huge fan of 5sos. She was going to their concert tonight when I would be surprising Luke. Hopefully that'll make her stop being so rude to me.
When I got out of my shower, I put my hair up in a neat bun. I applied light make-up because I was going to a meeting. I don't normally wear make-up unless it's for dance shows and competitions, or special events. I would say today was pretty special. I put on my dance clothes and went back into the main part of our hotel room.
"Ready to go?" Mom asked me as she was looking through my bag for something. Probably my headshot and very short resume. It only consisted of the few photo shoots I did for a online dance clothing store, and the music video I was in with my dance company. "Ready." I said, after making sure I had all of my dance shoes.
When we finally got to the office where the meeting was at, I started to feel pretty nervous. I can dance on stage in front of a million people, but when I have to dance for about three people that could determine my future, I start to freak out. I squeezed my moms hand tightly out of nerves. It's what I always did when I got nervous or shy. That and hide behind her.
"Harley Hemmings?" The receptionist asked without even looking up from the computer infront of her.
"That would be me."
"Layla is waiting for you in room 306. You can go to floor three and it should be the third door on the right." We both smiled at her and went to the elevator.
"Mom, I'm really nervous." I looked up at her, still holding onto her hand.
"You'll do just fine. All you have to do is dance and answer a few questions. Doesn't sound too hard right?" Just as she said that the elevator doors opened. We were walking down the hallway when I ran into someone.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to do that." I apologized feeling guilty.
"Harley? What are you doing here?" Oh no, it's Myla.
"I'm uh, auditioning I guess. They saw my YouTube channel and asked me to come in." I said nervously while trying to be as nice to her as I could be. I didn't have my trustee side-kick here to come to my rescue.
"Well, that's interesting. If your meeting with Layla, good luck." She smirked before walking off down the hallway like she owned the place. I can't say I'm surprised. That's just what she's like.
"Well, let's go before I talk myself out of this." I grabbed my mom's hand again and pulled her to room 306. Unsure if I should just go in or knock, I decided that knocking would be the polite thing to do. I lightly knocked on the door. A few seconds later, a girl with medium length brown hair opened the door.
"Harley! It's you! Gosh, your more adorable in person!" If this was Layla, I have no clue what Myla is talking about. She seemed like a nice person.
"Hi!" I smiled at her. She leaned down and gave me a small hug. "And you must be Liz." She hugged my mom too.
"So Harley, you can sit down right here and I'm just going to ask you a few questions, okay?" Layla led me to a round table with big spiny chairs. I nodded and sat down next her with my mom on the other side of me.
"So, when did you start dancing? How did you get into it?" I thought about her question for a bit before answering. "Um, I started dance when I was two. I think I started because my mom really wanted one of her kids to dance, but it didn't work out with the other three. I fell in love with it though, and I've been doing it ever since." I smiled, proud of my answer.
"Great! How many hours a week do you dance? And what studio are you at?" Silently, I tried counting all the hours in my head, "I would say about 4-5 hours a day, six days a week. And I dance at Power Surge Dance Company."
"Alright, then would you like to show me what you got?" She smiled at me. I'm really hoping she likes me, so far, I think I'm good. I nodded and walked to the studio part of the room. I wasn't going to dance to music, and I just did a simple 30 second improv. It wasn't that hard since improv is one of my favorite things to do.
"Wow, you are even better then I expected." She said, "I'm going to get back to guys in a few days, how does that sound?" I walked out of the room and sat on a bench while Layla and my mom talked for a few minutes.
"How'd it go?" Myla took a seat right next to me on the bench. "Pretty good, actually. I think I have a good chance." I smirked, finally building up some more confidence. "Doubt it." She muttered under her breath.
"I heard your going to the 5sos concert tonight. Do you have close seats?" I asked her. I really hoped she did because I would love to see her face when I walk out on that stage. "Yeah, of course I do. The boys actually got me front row tickets. Their close family friends." She smirked at me, trying to rub it into my face. I knew it wasn't true and I had to stop myself from laughing in her face. I've told the boys a lot of stories about Myla, and let's just say, they aren't her biggest fans.
"Really? That's so cool! I'm going too but I don't have front row tickets." Because I'll be backstage. "Well, sucks to be you doesn't it?" She said before walking away. She does that a lot doesn't she? As soon as Myla walked away, my mom came back out. Thank god, cause I didn't really feel like waiting any longer. I was starving so we got something to eat before going back to the hotel room to get ready for the concert.
