Himi screamed, sitting upright in her bed. Medley...Medio...Ginny...Desunoto...Imato...Tickles...Yuki...
Himi stared around her room. It seemed normal, until her parents came crashing in full throttle.
"SWEETHEART ARE YOU-" they stopped at the look on Himi's face. She could hardly believe it.
"Sorry...you can go now." she whispered softly, staring back out the window again.
She could sense her mother about to walk over to her, but assuming her father had stopped her, the door closed shut and two sets of footsteps died away.
A dream. All a stinking little dream. Yuki, Desunoto, Imato, her friends betrayal, Medleys death; all a dream like nightmare. Even feathery Tickles...a dream...
*Hoot*
Himi gasped, and turned out the window...'No way...' was all she could think.
A little dark brown owl with white spots and large dark eyes sat at her windowsill. Along with a blue and tawny feathered bird with lilac eyes. Tickles and Medio.
Himi started laughing hysterically as she opened the window sill with trembling and jittery fingers. The two birds soared all around her room, swooping in and out of the wooden rafters. Then, Ginny pulled herself from outside and into her room through the window sill. She landed with a splat on the floor of Himi's room, and looked up at her with awkward eyes. Himi felt her life fizz away. The last time Ginny and her had been in her room, Ginny had acted like a real "Jerkess" which was Himi's female version of a jerk.
"Look Himi..."
The two birds landed on the dents of Himi's pillow and stayed silent with no hoots or tweets.
"Yeah Ginny." Himi tried to smile as best as she could.
"Look I should tell you what happened," stammered Ginny twisting around her hair that frizzed around, "It'll take a while."
"Whilst we were at the ruins...Yuki informed us that Desunoto was coming after you. He decided that to lure Desunoto away from you, we should stay away from you. But...I told him that you are persistent. He then said...that I should pretend to be his lover. Then he told Medio to tell you-"
"About you guys." finished Himi, and it now dawned on her. "You guys weren't actually being mean you were..." tears began to flow down Himi's cheeks, "...protecting me."
Ginny began to cry too, and ran to Himi and wrapped her arms around her. Medio and Tickles flew to each side of Himi's shoulder and snuggled up to her neck. They stayed there for a while, the friends all together again.
"So...what happened to Desunoto and Yuki?" Himi finally asked. Ginny now started to wail, and buried her face into Himi's shirt.
"We don't know they...disappeared. And w-we s-s-s-saw..."
"Medley." Himi looked outside at the snowy scene. The sky was now clear, and there wasn't a grey cloud in sight. The snow sparkled in the sun, the trees that stood bare laden with snow.
They were safe. She and her friends. Medley was happy, with the love of her life. It would take a while for them all to heal.
But all she could think...was her regret for never thanking Winter...Yuki...for everything he had done to protect her.
