"You're going to be so lost here," Luke said in my ear as we walked through the threshold, his hand holding my lower back.
"With alcohol, I'm sure I'll fit in just fine," I smiled, "Just don't go too far, in case I need you."
He he nodded, pressing a kiss to my head before excusing himself. He migrated to the football team, a group of people all shouting hellos at him.
"You'll find friends eventually," Calum said, cracking open a beer and handing it to me. I took a sip of the beverage, slightly wincing. Beer tasted like ass but I would still drink it.
I leaned towards him, "Maybe this is my chance."
I wandered over to where Luke was, pulling on his sleeve. He looked down, bending over to listen to me, "Introduce me to your friends, I look like a loser."
He nodded, clearing his throat as he stood to his full height, over half a foot taller than me.
"Guys, this is Rosie."
5 sets of eyes turned to stare at me, my awkward smile probably looking very unattractive. The girl closest to me on the left wrapped her arms around me, making my eyes go wide. She hugged me tightly, her scent seeming to be vanilla mixed with vodka. I laughed, "Hello to you too!"
"Sorry!" she said, pulling away, "I'm a hugger, my name's Sam!"
The girl beside her raised her joint, smoke drifting out of her mouth, "My name's Coley."
A taller guy with a letterman jacket and long hair pushed between two people, shaking my hand, "Ashton!"
When the next guy looked towards me, Luke's arm snaked around my waist, pulling me a bit closer to him. I dismissed the gesture.
He pulled up on my hand, bringing it to his face before pressing my knuckles to his puckered lips, "My names Todd, you have a hot name."
"Uh, thanks?" I nervously retracted my arm, snuggling into Luke's side.
The last girl just glared at me, looking me up and down before rolling her eyes and walking away. Okay, bitch chill.
"You're new, right?" Sam said, gulping down the last of her drink.
"Yeah, I moved about two weeks ago."
Coley took a last hit, tossing the rest behind the couch, "You literally came to the shittiest town possible."
I laughed, shrugging. Todd was eye-fucking me from afar, biting his lip when I made eye contact with him. Is he always this... desperate?
"Can I talk to you for a second?" Luke whispered in my ear again, this time his lips grazed my ear, "Just giggle and say okay, I just need to tell you something."
I followed his instructions, knowing I could trust Luke. I knew what I was asked to pretend. I had to dramatically act as if Luke suggested something sexual, agreeing and follow him somewhere to get away from the group. Simple.
I did as I was told, giggling obnoxiously and brought my lip between my teeth softly, "Okay."
I said farewell to my new friends, hooking my fingers through Luke's as he guided me up the stairs. Sam, Ashton and Coley hollered, Todd's eyebrows furrowing. He gave off such a douchey vibe. Yuck.
Luke brought me into an unoccupied bedroom, pulling me through before closing the door.
"What was that about?" I asked, sitting on the bed.
He huffed, "I saw Toad getting the wrong idea and I couldn't let him look at you like that."
I muffled a laugh, "Did you just call him Toad?"
