Luke chuckled lightly from behind me, his tired voice being more than obvious. Slowly turning around, I smiled at him and examined his face and body quickly. He on the other hand looked rather confused, together with a tired morning face.
"Wow, it's been long." He breathed out and rubbed his nose quickly.
"How did you even open the door so fast? Calum knocked on it barely a second ago." I frowned while motioning to the door with my thumb.
"I saw a car park outside with Calum stepping out of it, then you came out and I wouldn't believe it. Just a few seconds ago he texted me, telling me to as fast as possible go to the door but only open it once he knocked." He scratched the back of his head and occasionally pointed at his friend.
I slowly turned to Calum with a deathly glare and had my head more to the side.
"I'm going to kill you." I quietly snarled at him, knowing I should've left earlier. After all, it was Calum we were talking about.
"Do you hate me that much?" Luke barely laughed and shook his head at the floor. Closing my eyes for a brief moment, I sighed, knowing how mean I came out to seem.
"Of course I don't." I mumbled and awkwardly crossed my arms over my chest.
"Good that, because I just remembered something." Luke pointed at me for a split second and glanced behind his shoulder. "Remember that store we went to? The one I shooed you out of?" I chuckled at the memory and pulled both fingers through my hair.
"Yes, I remember and I'm still mad over that." I scoffed jokingly with my eyes completely fixed on him. It was indeed impossible for me to avert them by now.
"I actually bought something for you but I totally forgot about it." He smiled, almost embarrassed and moved his foot in circles.
"Really?" I smiled and raised my eyebrows. He nodded proudly and glanced behind his shoulder once again, as if he was checking something behind him in his apartment.
"Yeah, I was supposed to give it to you at the motel but we were... Too occupied."
As the words left his mouth, I found myself staring at him while replaying the event in my head, causing my whole body to tingle just by the memory.
"That's very cute of you." I sincerely said and peered at Calum, who stood there with a satisfied smile upon his face.
"Didn't I tell you not to call a guy cute?" Luke playfully scolded and crossed his arms.
"I said that it's very cute of you. Do I need to finish the sentence, Lucas?" I reminded him and watched as he sheepishly smiled at the floor.
"Aren't you two just the cutest?" Calum chirped overly dramatic and made a face that made me want to vomit, yet it made me shoot him a fake smile.
"Calum." We both snapped simultaneously at him, but it only made his grin grew wider.
"See! You even yell at me together, get married already!" He exclaimed and waved his hands in the air, his arms being outstretched. Luke suddenly stood beside me with an unamused expression towards Calum.
"Dude. Stop." Luke hugged his own elbows - making our skin come in contact for the first time in months - and glanced at me not so discreetly.
We stood in silence for a few seconds until I remembered that Ashton asked me to come over. Gazing up at Luke, he immediately mirrored my action, and I had to plaster a sad smile on my face.
"I have to go." I reluctantly and slowly said, earning nothing but a sigh from him, but also from Calum.
How unkindly it might sound, Calum shouldn't be the one to sigh. Partly because, I actually wanted to spend time with him, gave him a ride and even followed him up. And partly because he's the one meant to spend time with Luke.
