deadly cold

"Get out my house you little brat!"

" wait!?"

"If you don't get out now, I will hit the bloody daylight out your pathetic body...I wish you were never born!"

I wake up suddenly hitting my head on the brick wall behind me.

It's cold. I shiver as I rub my eyes. Now, in the light I can see around the alley. The brick walls have paint peeling off them.

As i stand up I shove my hands down further in to my pokets. It's too cold. The sky is completely grey and slightly silverly. I slowly walk down the street. I don't know what to do...urgh.

I keep walking until I manage to find the high Street. I look into the shop windows. I keep going to the end of the street. The very last shop was an old Victorian coffe shop. I looked in and noticed a piece of paper stuck to the door. It read:

"Wanted full time workers. As waitors or using tills.
Doesn't need to be quallified.
Minimum pay. "

I pull it off the door and walk in to the register when I lay down the paper and ask.

"I would like to talk with the owner of this shop?"

She looked up and smiled brightly before saying " you talking with her. You want the job?"

I nooded, looking down at the paper , just double checking.

"Great! I'm lexx. " she beamed brightly. "Come with me. You can start right now!"

I followed her behind the desk to the back room. I was fitteed with a uniform and told how to do everything. I nooded, agreeing with her. It's a simple job. But before she goes I have to ask her something.

"You let me have the job right away. Do not many people want to have thsi job or work here?" I neverously asked. Playing with the bottom hem of my apron.

"You're not from around here are you?.. Most of the men or just normal people have gone to work in the army. The others left here want good , well paid jobs. Not working as a simple waitor in a cafe. Although we do have many customers."

She explained about to go through the door. "And you're cute! So you will attract people!" She said winking and smiling.

...I see....
