Kraken
A giant squid. Wrecks ships.
Merperson (mermaid/merman)
Human down to the waist, a fish tail instead of legs. Sometimes shown with scales covering its skin, fangs and claws.
Siren
Bird like creatures that sing a beautiful song, causing sailors to see them as beautiful women. The sailors would dive off their ships to try to swim to the sirens, but would be killed by jagged rocks.
Sea Serpent
Giant sea snake that destroys ships.
Naiad
The spirit of a river, appearing as a woman. When the river died the naiad died.
Selkie
Women that could turn into seals by putting their seal skin on and then become women by taking it off.
