Finally, the celebrations began at Nandini's home.
The entire entrance and threshold of the village house had been decorated beautifully. A huge stage had been set up, and the entire village had been invited.
For Nandini's grandfather, this wasn't just another wedding.
It was a celebration for the whole village.
The haldi, Sangeet, bamboo-pole planting ceremony, and the traditional South Indian Ganesh Puja had all been conducted with great care.
But the Sangeet was something else entirely.
It was a treat for the entire village.
There would be cultural dances, traditional songs, family performances, and everyone would get a chance to celebrate together.
Nandini's grandfather had specifically wanted the entire village to witness his granddaughter's wedding.
He wanted to proudly show everyone how beautifully he was performing her wedding.
Nandini couldn't refuse him.
Even though she wasn't particularly comfortable with such a huge celebration, she didn't want to disappoint her grandfather.
But while the entire village was celebrating, Nandini's heart and mind were somewhere else.
With Manik.
Just as Manik had planned, nobody initially noticed his absence.
The boys staying at the other house were completely occupied with wedding-related work. Whenever anyone asked about Manik, they simply assumed he was resting in one of the rooms.
The girls were equally busy.
They were arranging their outfits, preparing for the Sangeet, practicing their dances, helping each other get ready, and barely had time to speak to their husbands.
Everything had worked exactly as Manik had planned.
Almost nobody knew that he had disappeared.
But there was one person who could never completely ignore the absence of her child. His mother.Neonika. A mother's instincts were different. And Neonika was no exception. She went straight to Manik's room, intending to check on him.The moment she entered, she stopped.Everything was perfectly arranged. The bedsheet was neat. She knew how messy her son was.Nothing was out of place.
There was absolutely no sign that anyone had even slept there the previous night.
A small doubt immediately entered her mind.
Where is my son?
She was about to question the boys about Manik when Shamishtha, Kabir's mother, came in.
