Not Really a Part At All

A/N:  Okay, readers, I've been writing fast and furiously for a couple of weeks and now I have writers block. It's not bad, but I know it could last a day or two...or ten.

So, for your amusement and reading pleasure, I give you a part that's not really part of this story. It's just a bit of drabble to keep the creative juices flowing. Think of it as intermission during a play.

Thanks for understanding.

Make Her Smile

Tom has been filming in Paris for about a month. Well, not really filming. His co-star is stuck in Los Angeles doing reshoots for his most recent project, so Tom has been rehearsing, and working out, and rehearsing more, and working out more.

About a week ago, Tom had taken up the habit of visiting the Louvre. He's always enjoyed art in virtually every form, and he seems to have garnered some anonymity in Paris, even in places frequented by tourists. More likely than not, it's probably because of the breathtaking art which surrounds him.

He likes the impressionists and has spent quite a bit of time in that gallery. When he arrives on one of his visits to see that the gallery is closed temporarily, he decides to explore some of the more popular areas. That's when he sees her.

He's immediately captivated by her. Though she is not the most beautiful woman in the room, there is something about her. She hides her true smile with her lips, but Tom doesn't take this as shyness. No, in fact the opposite is true. It's as if she's purposely holding back her smile, as if to say, 'Are you worthy? Oh no, I do not believe you've yet proven yourself.'

Tom circles around to see if he can see her from a different angle. Her eyes follow him. No, this one is definitely not shy. In fact, he could detect a bit of sauciness in her demeanor. Oh, what he wouldn't do to make her really smile!

Tom decides to approach her, though he's cautious. He looks around and comes eye-to-eye with one of the gallery security. "Est-ce que quelque chose ne va pas?" The guard asks. "No, no, everything is fine. I mean, tout van bien," Tom replies.

As the guard begins to relax, Tom looks once again at the most interesting woman in the room. He doesn't know how Leonardo Da Vinci did it, but Mona Lisa must have been an intriguing woman indeed. With a shake of his head, Tom leaves the gallery wishing once again he had been able to see her smile.
